Hey, Cubase is my number one. But when it comes to PLE vs Reapers Actions and Extensions - honestly, it doesn't even come close for me.thingschange wrote: Fri Feb 04, 2022 11:54 amI'm telling you, if you want to script the program to work with you instead of against you... Cubase PLE can do that. Nothing is quicker.
However, I think what PLE achieves within a more closed environment is phenomenal - and as a coder myself the logic fits me.
It's just a shame they don't let you put PLE Scripts or Macros into interface buttons to make it a smoother end user experience (Such as S1, Reaper etc.). Even a PLE/Macro quick launch bar would be handy, one that opens on a key command or can float in the project. And like Reaper actions you start typing to filter the list and press enter on the command you wish to run - super quick.
PLE is ok if you're dealing with a few scripts, beyond that the preset list gets crowded and no way of managing it... So not so fun as you start to build up a library.
Also to auto colour tracks based on name with PLE it's nothing like the autocolour sws extension found in Reaper.
In Cubase you have to create individual PLE's for each colour set, and then group them into a macro so they all fire at once, and then put that into a key command that you have to manually trigger it.
Reaper just does it automatically as you rename or create tracks - something PLE can't do as there's no watcher functionality.
