Really surprised at this move. At an absolute minimum, I'd expect some communication explaining why and how the fundamental model of subscription and updates is being changed. Because this certainly does that.

Yes, the 12 months of updates no longer means anything... they can now choose any new feature to not be included and be a paid extra
I'm gonna let the dust settle, but my tentative plan is to update every 2 years because what we receive in 12 months is obviously going to be less going forward cause a bunch of development time will go to add-ons.

I was all ready to jump on the Bitwig train, but this move has made me step back. I feel like I dodged a bullet. Back to Logic + VCV Rack!

MRatioMB is free, can you believe it? Free spectral/transient/loudness splitting, all you need to do is route the outputs.

But the harmonic splitting by fundamental/evens and odds and inharmonic partials, that's pretty cool. It's too bad they rolled them out like this. If they communicated ahead of time, it wouldn't seem like a massive breach of trust out of nowhere. Unfortunately for everyone, they didn't, and it does!

Maybe I missed some things but if you look at changelog for 4.3.9 there are loads of updates scroll through a few pages - all paid for ..

The bullet points for the free ones ... Two minor

No doubt Bitwigs brand has been (irreversibly?) damaged, such a shame,...I hope they take action, it's not too late to salvage this...but it will be soon.

It’s so sad. Honestly, I’m shocked they haven’t already fully retracted this and said they will come back with a more thoughtful plan for next time around. I think they have no more than 24 hours to salvage things. Too many choices out there. And consumers have long memories. I hope Urs doesn’t end up regretting hanging his CLAP hat on their hook

This has always been my plan, which is why I never saw the upgrade plan as a subscription. I pay when I want some significant updates and then get a year of more stuff. I typically go for over a year and a half, almost two years at one point. It’s not like anything is taken away, but people talk as if they are forced to pay yearly.

Actually what they could do is to stop this nonsensical "upgrade plan" and move back towards regular releases + suite version (if they really must) just like Ableton. Problem solved

A side note ... they really are freakin bad in communicating with their community... they behave like if they where the market leader that does not have to take care ... seems like the coolest dsp nerds, can be the utmost idiots when it comes to loyality management...
