I think the voting strategies by each person will decide how much weighting they apply for composition, sound design, mixing, mastering, subjectivity (ie how much they "like" the track).

I would suggest that the "voting" in each "category" above will come out in the wash ... and in general the better tracks rise to the top.

I agree. Also - it's remarkable how long OSC had been running - and very successfully. I doubt rules or formulation will be changed. Too risky!

When the "top 5" are very close in score, I would guess that who wins is going to be based on the subjective weight given by the voting participants. Tracks at the top will be well composed, exhibit great/good/appropriate sound design, be well mixed and mastered - it'll come down to how much you like it vs the other tracks - can depend on genre, how close it sounds to your favourite band etc. ...

The best things about the current voting system are (a) Simplicity (b) Transparency (everyone can see how everyone voted) (c) ease of the voting process (d) 16 days to vote!

We have had endless threads about changing the system, and the only one in my mind which could be changed is to have more than 5 voting bins. But, in the end, that just make things more complex overall, for those voting and those maintaining the voting system.

I made a proposal to make it even more comfortable:

I would appreciate if it could get more traction.
