I'd recommend the ten dollar video course. Very in depth and well presented.

My issue with Scaler has nothing to do with the basic design. I think it's an improvement over 2 in almost every way.

My issue is with stability. It's practically unusable for me.

In Ableton it crashes often. If I open a session in Ableton where I had an instance of Scaler 3 it will give me fatal error on startup.

In Pro Tools the audio version fails to scan and if i try to make an instance of the regular version it's 50/50 whether it will make the program hang.

I'm extremely disappointed with Scaler's stability. I honestly regret purchasing the upgrade fee.

I can beat that just by opening a session with Scaler 3 already in it.

I just did. However, there are already few drag and drop bug reports. I just made one specific to Live 12 but might be possible that the bug is across all platforms.

Well I just did that in REAPER 7.39 (Windows 11) and I had no problems.

When they finally sort it out this is going to be an amazing plugin. But I must say I've been messing around with it for the last couple of hours without any crashes whatsoever.

I'm using the latest versions of REAPER (7.39) and Windows 11 (24 H2), and the version of Scaler that they advertised as being 1.0.7 which came out a couple of days back.

I'm thinking there's some incompatibility with plugin hosting or something.

There are plenty of reports of Reaper crashes as well as people on other DAWs with no issues.

In other words there doesn't seem to be much rhyme nor reason to it.

Having said that, I went through the steps of doing a fresh install by deleting the relevant files and reinstalling. I also made sure that no plugins were scanned when I fired it up.

It's still a shit show on both Live and Pro Tools. It usually crashes Live and any sessions that had Scaler 3 on won't even open until I delete the plugin from the session.

On Pro Tools it works sometimes but often hangs and when I restart I get a message saying that Scaler 3 should be moved out of the plugins folder.

It's really infuriating because I think it's a great update. I'm not in the "Scaler 2 was better" camp.

I even bought the video course (which is excellent) just to familiarise myself with the new workflow but I can't really use it.

I was planning to update my v2 to v3 nowadays, but reading all this ........... should I buy the update or v2 is ok to stay?
