It is posts like this that make me wonder if you are really even interested
in Amplitube 2 or if you are on a mission to just bash it. If that was the case then that's not a really cool thing to do in
my opinion especially since you've worked for NI. I don't see you bashing
Guitar Rig the same way and how thin it sounds. I wonder why?

good question. Yes, I have to admit that even though I said I won't buy AT2 because of the tasteless tits campaign I still am very interested in Amplitube2. IF and I said IF it is as great as Squids tells us with never ending enthusiasm I seriously will reconcider to buy it. Yes, I will do that.
And about GR2: I don't think that it sounds thin but in the heavy department (which is my ultimate point of decision) it simply lacks. It's too muddy, not aggressive enough (the amps, Mezone does sound like a distortion pedal and not like an amp), just doesn't sound and feel right for me. Enough for you to see why I don't own it? I don't own an NFR, too. And if one of my old friends from NI (and I didn't talk to them for years) would decide to give me one I would not use it for heavy sounds. From anything virtual that I own Xmas tube does sound the best for the heavy sounds I'm looking for. If I want the BEST sound I can get I'll dust off my FRITZMAN 100watt tube head. Only few are in the same league, like the Diezels are.

I think Fritz himself mentioned that he wasn't working close enough to NI to become a partisan. If I remember corretly he was doing Q&A for them and beta testing.

I'm a FREE man! I have a certain respect for my former employers in the sense that I don't talk about insider stuff of those companies. But if they release a product that I don't like or something like that then why shouldn't I say that? If I want to do that I'll do.
And just for the record so that everybody can read it again: I worked for NI in support, distribution and I was a Reaktor product specialist. That was 1999 - 2000. They didn't even talk to me internally about Kontakt back then (and I sure would have known about it as I was one of the first back then who was talking about such a sampler) and that has been FAR before I heard about Guitar Rig. Is that clear enough?

It can get ugly. Doesn't need to be though. There's a line you can cross with the bashing if you are a developer yourself or affiliated either as as a beta tester, ex-employee, friend or have some other disclosed bias with a competing company's program. Going in the other program's thread to bash it can be viewed like hitting below the belt. Well, as evidenced by the previous posts anyway...

There is no "competing company's program" for me. I'm not affiliated with anybody who is making an amp sim plugin. I'm not a beta tester right now for anybody who makes an amp sim plugin. I wasn't beta testing any amp sim plugin in the past. I still can't see how you try to put me into your little drawer that says "you're affiliated! Booh!". I'm not. And again just for you alone: I -WILL- serioulsy reconcider to buy AT2 if it blows me away which means that it only has to really be what your personal advertising in this thread and what the serious part of the official advertising is trying to get across to me. Satisfied?

Well, you could try to go back to find out WHAT I was bashing. I wasn't bashing AT2. I was bashing the boobs campaign, I disliked Squids extreme marketing style. But we are beyond that now. Both of it. IK partly took the boobs out and Squids and I cleared the marketing style question and I apologized about my harsh tone towards Squids. I also said that the AT2 mp3s do sound mediocre to me. My last post about the rediculous marketing blah on www.amplitube.com was to show off stoopidt advertising. I rarely saw such stoopidt advertising for a music software. And I saw a lot of them. If NI or Steinberg would EVER go into such poor territory they would possibly be a target for my jokes about them FOR SUCH ADVERTISEMENT! You know, a sentence like "It's better because it's better" is simply a joke in itself, isn't it? Read it for yourself, on www.amplitube.com . I just thought that was funny. If you like different jokes, well sorry then for bothering you with my posting as a free man in this public forum.

Just to put things in perspective and maybe cut Squids a little slack for his "merketing" style. Check out these videos for Waves GTR!!!

They are so "Over The Top" I almost pished myself. Now there ARE a few nice sounds overall but watch the videos & please note:

A) How repeatedly claim over & over that GTR sounds as good or "better" than real amps. That this is the "PRO" be-all-end-all solution to guitar recording.

B) How they play the same cheesy guitar lick throughout the entire video - notice how they avoid playing ANY real rhythm guitar at all costs.

c) The laughable part...the distortions! I don't think it is even an "opinion" that they sound faker than the boobs on IK's Poster girl!

Squids - sorry to be hard you earlier, but I am in sales myself and come to KVR to "get away from it all" to an extent. You ARE a great saleman, in a TOUGH business I might add. I can only afford ONE guitar product this year because of obligations to spouse, mortgage etc... So I HAVE to make a wise choice and can't take your word for it because I may have different tastes & opinions based on needs.
