I made the same suggestion a long time ago that I wished the little knobs in the tab were editable, but I understand why they aren't. I think the main thing is that it is much faster to be able to edit oscillators at the same time as filters. But for a complex synth there is always a trade-off, like you can edit an oscillator and filter at the same time but only one osc at a time (like Spire).

Maybe a nice compromise would be to have a row of 8 macro across the bottom (or wherever) that are always visible, sort of like Massive X, and so that gives someone a way to edit things from multiple pages at the same time, regardless of the tab they are on, just by assigning the ones they often need (and make it lockable between presets).

In MX you can at least edit oscillators, filters, insert and master effects with tabbing only for effects. It never forces you to break workflow when you want to tweak between osc and filter (two of the most important things in a subtractive synth). AND also allows you to edit three modulators at the same time. It's much better and faster to use as a consequence, overall.

Another solution would be adding an "Easy" page that basically blows up the left side overview section so that you can have birds-eye quick edit page for most common things without tabbing. And yeah having 8 macros in there that are always visible is also not a bad thing.

I personaly prefer a bit tabbed interface with a logical layout then everything in one window layout. Plus i noticed those everything in one window plugins have this sluggish feeling. Massive X for example, its overal performance feels like its lagging, opening the window itself is so slow, you have to wait for a second or few. Maybe its a coinciedence, but even low cpu synths like u-he feels slow in comparison when handling synths with tabbed interfaces like Ultra analog va 3, viper or dune 3 or even Spire.

You shouldn't correlate how much time CPU expensive (or cheap) spend to open the UI. One thing is the DSP they use, graphical framework used to render the GUI is something else entirely. Tabs by themselves also don't really matter in the grand scheme of things - it's more about stuff like: how many parameters are there, is it rasterized or vectorized interface, is it scalable or not, how many resources there are to load etc.

This looks perfect. Please do let us know when that is posted somewhere for download.:)

FWIW, I didn't want to say that at all. Although both of those synths have oscillator and filter controls on the same page (or can have them on the same page).

Viper doesn't. Life is hard. ;)

Regarding Adam's dilemma about how if the displayed parameters on the side were adjustable, but touching on of them would result in changing the tab - Wouldn't a simple tab lock fix this if someone didn't like that behavior? Then maybe only touching the words on the very left would change tabs, but not anywhere in the region showing the little knobs etc. That would be nice.

Post

Yep that's also one of the things I suggested. :)

It's fine the way it is, it doesn't need "fixing". I find it really easy to work with, preferable to a lot of other synths, like Hive or DUNE.

Nope, the users skin will come first, then lots of soundbanks and then the virus import

Is the CPU spike issue during opened GUI and automation fixed?
Another small issue, during the loading of the plugin into the DAW (Bitwig in my case), the Viper GUI is opened in the background for a fraction of a second for every instance of the plugin, slowing down the loading time.
Thanks!

Unfortunately I cannot do much about the GUI opening for a brief moment, its the way FlowStone works, but the CPU issue will be fixed with the knobs, I am redoing and optimizing the controls while doing the skin, thats why its taking so long.
