Yeah, you can configure it any way you want. Pretty awesome multi-effect unit! I can't tell you how needed this is in my portable laptop studio. I've been happy using just regular T-RackS but now that I have the beta of TR3... oh, sorry. But it's awesome! I can't believe how they nailed the true character of the Fairchild and Pultec. Up until now the Fairchild emulations have been pretty good out there but there was always something missing... I think it was the fact that a real Fairchild had some inconsistencies that made it interesting. Some of the models out there (and I won't name which to be nice) get the tonal characterstics generally there but it is TOO perfect sounding compared to a real Fairchild 670. That can still be nice and useful too so I am not knocking any of the other emulations out there. I like to have it all and I've always been a fan of the companies that make that kind of stuff. But, this emulation has that more variable behavior that makes it sound more like the real thing to me. I'd be interested to hear what engineers like Ken Scott who recorded The Beatles think of this emulation compared to the real thing. Very few people can really lay out the cash for a 670 (it's $30Kish). But, it was used on so many classic records that to have a very VERY good emulation in a plug-in is... well to me it is very practical. I love that I can install it on all of my computers and there's no dongle or PCI card though. Portability is important... especially to someone like me who has Mac laptops, PC latops and desktops too. Home studio, pro studio, traveling studio... you want to be able to use the same plugs everywhere if you're a power user or at least have two set ups.mellotronaut wrote:looks quite interesting ... i like these combi-modules rack idea!

Not only did I call it being T-Racks, I was also right that Squids was alluding to a Fairchild emulation. I rule!Squids wrote:Yep! T-RackS 3 baby. Check it out. The Fairchild emulation is amazing. It's the closest I've heard. The Pultec is great too and that Opto Compressor is LUSH.
Now if that doesn't deserve a gratis copy I don't know what does.
Is there a demo MP3 of the Fairchild on a drum bus out there?

I'm confused about the "3" thing. Why is this "T-3"? Was there ever a "T-2"?
Did I miss a version upgrade somewhere?

K after sitting on the fence and investigating, I'm thinking' the original TRacks24 came on in 2000 as a stand alone, then the plug-in was around 2001 with enhancements.....flynn wrote:The latest T-Racks VST is 1.3Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote:T-Racks VST was actually the VST version of T-Racks 2. Ok, take 2...
T-Racks 24 (I'm assuming called 24 because it supported 24 bit, it was standalone, had a single band limiter)
T-Racks 2 (standalone, with a multi-band limiter)
T-Racks VST (version 1 of VST support, but otherwise the VST version of T-Racks 2)
T-Racks 3

Thanks Squids!
I'm happy about the sidechain, that most likely seals it for me.
Will the cross grade reduce in price, since it seems that is the MSRP?

The differences between compressors is so subtle that i can't really get excited about yet another compressor. Sound proofing your room, or getting a good mic, or good mic preamp, and using better sounds to begin with has about 100x more importance in my book than compression or eq. But that's just me.
I do hope sampletank 3 comes out some day. With easier loading of samples, easier way to map existing samples, better preset sounds with more dynamics. To me, sampletank has an advantage over hardware sound modules because in sampletank, each sound can have it's own output to mix in your host, but with sound modules, they usually only have one or two audio outputs, in which i have to force 16 sounds through, in a multi-timbral arrangement.

I'll get excited about it if it delivers a full deep soundstage. The problem I have with most plugin compressors is how they tend to shrink the soundstage a bit when processing stereo material. The only one that really retains that that I've tried natively has been some of the ones with Nebula3 (though I've also been diggin the Rocket of late with oversampling on).daExpert wrote:The differences between compressors is so subtle that i can't really get excited about yet another compressor. I just hope they'll consider selling the individual plugin versions seperately at some point, as forking out for the whole thing doesn't really interest me personally.

Treatment is one thing, but you either need more, or better monitors if you can't hear the difference between something like a Fairchild and an LA2A or 1176. Those differences are far from subtle.daExpert wrote:The differences between compressors is so subtle that i can't really get excited about yet another compressor.
