Just picked them up. Seen the potential and value of the package and liked the different sound that is achievable.

I love the interface and modular concept of the modules. I much prefer the retro look for user friendliness over your other plugs. Although Zebra is my favourite plug ever. I would love a retro style modular synth with modules like this and the U-He sound. The interface is critical for me and you have got it just right. I can see these new plugs being a huge success for you.

Well done Urs.

P.S.

Have you made a will? If you get a bang of a bus (god forbid) who will finish off these plug ins and keep my Zebra running.

thanks......
I personally would prefer the outer rim to be integer only...
but maybe that is just me, or maybe an option click or option drag?

Thanks you very much! That's an excellent comparison to which I can 100% relate.

An disadvantage of Runciter is IMHO currently that it's only got one filter mode and it can sound pretty harsh with little resonance. I think that the UAD filter is just The Butter in comparison, but I havn't tested it yet (UAD2 here), only judging from the demos.

;) Urs
Well, personally I think the UAD and the UHBIK (this name is really quite. ..)-Runciter complement quite nicely. To me the UAD has more instant and undramatic impact on the signal (one could call it Butter or smooth or ...) - the Runciter has more options which allow for finer alignment of the filter with the input signal. Runciter offers shades that are not that easily attainable with the UAD.

Both sound great and IMHO complement each other.

just my 2 cents

Thanks Mr. Masterplan!

I used to have a friend instructed to open source everything in that case. However, I'm married now and the income may be critical for my wife. Hence we've got a horribly expensive life insurance going that will allow for her to hire a developer who can get into it. After a year or so he should be able to maintain things. I'm also writing down ideas for 10 more years of new products and updates. Alternatively, u-he will be for sale for 15 times the annual revenues (which would be recouped within a year or two by a company that does marketing). Plus, I keep full backups & instructions at different places (Berlin, Victoria, California). Even the unlikely event of an A-bomb in Berlin can not make Zebra go away :P

wow.

That's a lot of failsafe for an inevitability that is hopefully a good 40 years away.

Oh, the things I would do for a peek at the "10 years of new products and updates"...

Cheers, My comment was tongue in cheek. your products are having a big influence on my music so keep up the good work and make sure you eat healthy and go to the gym

By the way has anyone reported that in Live after you adjust some of the settings in the reverb module you get some static and slight clicks in the sounds and then the sound settles down? Or is the sound being distorted because is a demo/beta version?

Thanks,

Baz

Dynamics pack - comp/exp/lim/multiband/deS/colour/exciter
Berlin Modular - wires all over the place
Drum Thing - what it says
A.C.E. - different synth, great concept
Sampler - what it says
Host - what it says
Web Thing - secret
Uhbiks G, L, R, V and some utilities
Zebra HW/KB - when will joysticks be affordable?
Zebrify
FilterscapeLQ - linear phase eq
FilterscapeOne - dedicated filter (may be obsolete with Runciter, dunno, maybe not quite)

concepts, concepts concepts... some prototypes... some quite far... some just thoughts

Considering that I manage to release one thing a year... roughly... another 10 years...

demo mode, for sure

Btw. wife makes sure that I don't eat junk food. I'm allowed 1 package pizza in a month and maybe 1 x 500ml Häagen Dasz. I'm also supposed to be on the cross trainer every day, but I have good pretext to get out of this obligation in times like these (writing manuals and such).

I still drink too much coffee and beer. Doesn't seem to have a negative impact though, apart from my belly size

I quit smoking two years ago. Still got cravings though... :x

Cheers,

I also have both SoundToys and Uhbik and to me the difference is
sort of "science" vs. "science fiction". The SoundToys are and were
designed to be very high quality emulations of existing hardware
devices with more tweakability built in. Urs creations are not
constrained by such considerations and can benefit from the vast
sweep of his own imagination and creativity. I think that having
both constitutes a very complimentary set, especially so when the
rest of the Uhbik line becomes available.

a u-he host and a u-he sampler aren't things I would've expected from you, to be honest.

But then again, I wasn't expecting you to actually tell us the list at all
:)

Ah, We are all the same. (and so are our wifes!) I am supposed to be off drink and fast food also. I have a stressful job responsible for a sales department (in recession times) and I am in the middle of an MBA (Masters in Business Administration). So I am having my beer and pizza and revealing stress through drunken music making and forum surfing and maybe a little Call of duty 5 later. keep the peace and roll on the presets and manual to show me the best of these units. Have my guitar plugged into a chain of them at the mo with some interesting results. Waiting on my serial number to unlock them to remove the noise.

Peace,

Barry

Well, sometimes it's all about confidence - I wouldn't invest in a company that has no vision. I hope that people see where I'm going, even though the path is sometimes a bit blurred (think how long it took to port Zebra to Win, then how long it took to update MFM, and now Filterscape).

Hey Urs... automap boy is back again. I'm going to go through these and will just add to the post as I go along:

Two minor things... when using the Remote, the value figures don't display at all (the green ones in the top box) like they do when you use a mouse on the GUI. Secondly, most of the pulldown/press buttons do not have a controller option... for instance in Uhbik-F it would be really handy to assign a button to press through the Time Unit options or in D it would be cool to set up on/off switches for the Delay 1-5 Feedback options.

I had a similar question with DiscoDSP's Discovery, where I could not assign a button to walk through the available waveforms... George (the developer) contacted Novation and got this response:

"Automap uses a Learn system which looks at the parameters from a plug-in which are enabled for Automation and automatically assigns them to midi controls - since it looks like the Waveform select button doesn't support Automation, there is at this stage no way to control it using Automap, unless you were to enable automation support for button controls at your end.

Automap however does feature a MidiClient - which is essentially a virtual midi device which can be used to send standard Midi CC messages. It is therefore possible to control the waveform shape, or any other Midi CC controls using this feature. :

... I don't know if this is easy to implement in Uh-bik's pull down/buttons and I'm always a little hesitant in suggesting (as it's extra work and it is always a little problematic trying to work to others' specs) but if it was something that you could and would do easily it would be lovely. If not, it's not the end of the world. :)

*** additional info: just came to Uhbik-S... all the buttons/pulldowns (well the 3 on the plug) work fine here in the automapped version. and lastly, Uhbik-T has 1 out of the 3. ***

Just so I don't sound like a complete whiney git... automapping these is definitely helping with the learning curve... these are very cool. I'm not sure if it would be practical to automap Zebra though, there's so many parameters in that baby!
