Just playing with the AM Modulation of OSCs with the MOD - what a fantastic source for weird sounds and noises - really cool.
beautyBUG : the Label states "RM" instead of AM.
And for the sake of perfection
: The slopeBUG is still present within the MEnv's...

I will just delete the double ones which i made foe e.g. OSC1 and OSC2.kv331 wrote:Hey, dont rush into saving partial presets yet. Wait for tonight's build!
I think I forgot one important thing when saving the partial preset. Anyhow I'll fix it tonight.

I'm confused about the terminology as well!FragileX wrote: beautyBUG : the Label states "RM" instead of AM.
If the modulator has "DC" bias, it becomes Amplitude modulation?
If no DC, it is Ring modulation?

In fact I don't think it's that important - but should be consistent between the label and the white display in the top right stating AM.kv331 wrote:I'm confused about the terminology as well!FragileX wrote: beautyBUG : the Label states "RM" instead of AM.

Just thinking that AM is easier understandable for newcomers - but on the other side RM sound perhaps more "analog"

I also have no idea. I found some explanation but it's german. The pictures may help:kv331 wrote:I'm confused about the terminology as well!FragileX wrote: beautyBUG : the Label states "RM" instead of AM.

1.) Ring modulation: http://www.analogeklangsynthese.de/analog/rm.html

2.) Amplitude modulation: http://www.analogeklangsynthese.de/analog/am.html

3.) Frequency modulation: http://www.analogeklangsynthese.de/analog/fm.html

Effects -> Echo : because the filter seems to be a highpass,I think the knob is behaving inverted : when fully left the filter should let through all - when turned clockwise it should filter out more and more of the lows.

I think I'm gonna change the implementation slightly by introducing a separate HP filter for the echo, so in the feedback path it'll be LP+HP -> BPFragileX wrote:Effects -> Echo : because the filter seems to be a highpass,I think the knob is behaving inverted : when fully left the filter should let through all - when turned clockwise it should filter out more and more of the lows.

Just released version 1.9.9.9
In this release, we have 2 fixes:
1. Partial preset load/save works correctly now.
2. When overwriting a partial preset, SM asks whether to overwrite or not.
This version might have trouble opening partial presets that were saved with previous versions.
Also, we have 13 presets made by Ingo! Thanks man, you rock

Thanks for including my patches too. They will help some people to start their own ones.
- One thing is still unclear: It looks like the "Easy Parameters" are not implemented so far. Maybe i just don't know how do do the settings for them.
So far the knobs are in the "Preset" menu so the settings should be done there.
At the moment i don't see other very important things but this will come while using the synth and programming some patches.
You said you want do enter a new effect later and maybe some more skins could be added (like e.g. the PPG skin). Some workflow enhancements in the GUI editor (e.g. undo/redo function) and in the waveform editor would be nice.
In the future much of the work will be needed to provide a reasonable amount of presets for the final release IMO.
As a conclusion the new version is more than usable now, all important features seem to work. No waiting time needed for the other beta testers to provide some patches since my patch from v1.9.9.7 still works in v 1.9.9.9.

The difference between am and rm is subtle, i think it has to with am only being positive amplitude. But then you'd think you had dc offset maybe?
It's subtle anyway

I had a crash once yesterday morning when using the VST in Ableton Live 8. It was when saving a patch with the "save" button. Like i already mentioned i was not able to reproduce that so far. I made all of my 13 patches while using the VST in Ableton Live. If i get a crash again i will post it here.kv331 wrote:one thing i noticed: when saving project in host, sm2 causes crash.

Folks,
I'm planning to wrap up my work until Friday so that on the last day of July I can make a public announcement for the release of SynthMaster 2.0 beta.
There are still some unfinished parts, particularly:
1. Microtuning should be per layer (so that you can tune layers differently for different notes, just as in a piano.
2. There should be a user interface to edit Microtuning settings, both coarse/fine tunes.
3. Filter Spectrum View control implementation should be finished.
4. Easy controls should work.
5. Keyscalers should work.
I hope I can finish all the above by Friday afternoon
BTW, I'm going on vacation on Saturday morning (August 1st), and will be back on August 9th. I'll be online from time to time to check my messages and the forum.
