I just tested what happens if I copy across the folder from the old machine to the new - leaving the folder structure intact (which is also described in Files.txt). After scanning in my host and loading up the plugin, I've got access to all the sounds.

That suggests to me that you might have some kinda of access conflict. It's an old plugin (I can't remember how old), so it's quite possible Windows folder access restrictions aren't playing nice with a pluign that might predate their introduction. If you installed to a protected folder (e.g. Program Files), try moving the folder elsewhere, like C:\vst\ where you can be sure there won't be any issues in accessing that folder.

Other than that, you'd probably get more help if you provide a bit more detail on how your installation is set up.
I have a dedicated ssd that's just for vsts and nothing else. I have two main folders on there. 32bit and 64bit. I extracted everything in the plex2.zip and put it in the 32bit folder while removing the plex264.dll. I did the same thing in the 64bit folder but removed plex2.dll.
FL won't tell me whether the track used the 32bit or the 64bit, so I installed both.
Here are the .raw files that the error message says aren't there. I'm sitting looking at them

So presumably not an access issue then :(

I have hundreds of other synths running from the same drive and nothing else gives me any issue, so I'd guess not, but thanks

Do you have the Raw folder with the *.raw files also present in the 32bit folder?

yeah I have it in both. I don't know if I used the 32bit or 64bit dll in the track, and FL doesn't give me any information on that, so I installed both so that it would load the dll that was used originally. Both folders are identical, except that the 32bit folder has no 64bit dll in there, and the 64bit folder has no 32 bit dll.

Have you already tested the Plex plugin in another VST host? If yes, same error?

same story in Bitwig. I expect it would be the same in Ableton and Reaper also, but I'm not gonna start scanning in those.

Next I would remove both (32bit + 64bit) installs completely, reinstall just 64bit version and test with Bitwig first. BTW does in Windows OS each plugin (like on Mac) also creates and has its preference file?

Surprised to see that this worked, at least partially.
It's fine in Bitwig and the error message doesn't pop up.
FL however, continues to show the error message, and even though I deleted both the 32bit folder and the 64, FL still manages to find the 32bit dll when I ran a scan.
Unfortunately I need it to work in FL as that was what the track was made in. FL strikes again !! Time I fully moved over to Bitwig cos it has it's stuff together a lot more than FL, and I say that as someone who's used FL for 20 years.

Might try and load the flp file into Bitwig, as it can ( to a degree ) open native FL project files ( without FL's plugins ) ....or....try to load FL as a plugin within Bitwig

Then you probably have another copy somewhere. Go into the plugin manager, locate Plex2 in the list and click on it. Switch to Plugin on the left to see the file location.

If you have another copy of the .dll, but the other folders are missing from that location, it would explain the behaviour.

As an aside, if you have chosen to merge 32 and 64 bit plugins, it shouldn't matter which one your project uses, you should only need to install the 64-bit version.

Yeah that fixed it. There were 2 duplicate copies. I'd copied a load of really old vsts and put them in a folder called, strangely enough, "old VSTs". The kind of thing that was abandoned and you're lucky if you find on the wayback machine because it's disappeared everywhere else. There were a few loose dll files in there, and then I installed it again into it's own folder. So I guess when I told FL to load Plex.dll, it was trying to load both at the same time or something.

It's got sound now in both FL and Bitwig, so thank you. Really appreciate your help getting this to play ball. Cheers !! =)
