Yes... after the Albino Legend version overwrites the original, it becomes unable to read Albino3 (v3.2.1) presets used in old projects. Kinda sucks, actually, considering it installs a VST2 and VST3 version of which only the VST3 version shows up in Cubase. The VST2 version should've shown up and loaded in older projects.

it's great if you like making 90s trance but for anything else I don't see it being much use unless someone comes up with a whole set of radically different sounds

Oh man, I'd really like to buy this one (and Blue), but I assume Rob Papen plugins still have to be activated online?

Yes, it's online activation, but i think you can deactivate too, and you can activate it on 2 machines at the same time.

Thanks for the answer, but that doesn't change much, unfortunately. If this was something difficult to find an alternative for, I might (very unhappily) consider it, but there are so many great synths with simple copy protection these days that I'm not going to bother.

For the record, Albino Legend has loaded all my old patches going back many years to the Linplug version and forward to the Rob Papen version which I had sold on some time ago. I don't remember what version number Albino was at when I sold it on.

As for the VST 3, Rob Papen uses a wrapper so you'll find an extra VST 2.dll in the VST 3 folder:

This can confuse some DAWs such as Bitwig which sees both VST2 versions.

I would encourage everyone to contact RP support for any issues.

I did and they said there's nothing they can do about it for the macOS.

Lots of good memories on this one. That arpegiator was magical and not a lot of quality synths were available. But besides familiarity and nostalgia I really don’t know what it brings to the table now.

Does Albino bring anything new today like it did back in the day? No.

Is it still a great sounding synth? Yes....to me.

It certainly has its own character and that's a good thing. But some will like that character and some won't, just like any synth.

Albino is not my favorite synth by any means but it has earned a place on the "B Team" and I've already used it in a project. The secret for me is in the layers.

If you already own or have owned Albino and are hoping the sound has changed in this version, it has not.

But if you've never owned or tried Albino in the past I'd say try the demo. You might end up liking it.

Just having a larger GUI that I can actually see now has made using Albino fun for me again and I'm glad to add this old friend back in to my collection. :tu:

This has me interested for sure

This has me really disappointed. Albino was so far ahead of its time. A little refresh and it could be as awesome as DUNE.

Rob said if im correctly remembering that it isnt possible or just too much work to add new features etc. as the coder from RP would need to get through the whole code etc. so yeah i can imagine too much work and time and instead investing it in their own new/current products. im happy it still got a current release for compatibility
