win xp XTver 1.4

Sorry if I missed this but are these XT2 only?
does it crash immediately, or when triggering certain keystrokes? what OS are you using?

midi2qwerty should work in any host, theoretically. the audio out is only there so it'll connect automatically in energyXT.

Yikes, just tried to open MIDI2QWERTY (hadn't previously) in eXT1.4.1. and eXT crashed. No details in the brief shut down message (does eXT keep any sort of log file?), just shuts down almost immediately.

WinXP Home SP2

I'm getting the same as bobsled, just a crash.

midipads: i thought that my idea of a cc-scene-triggerer+morph could be a nice and appropriate addiction to midi-pads!! the color selection sliders could be placed in the menu section and 8 scene\snapshot pads could take this place, with a rotary dial to manually control the morphing.

some ideas for morph control (the same ideas should be considered even for a native energy-xt morph function-):
1- with incemental controllers: a endless rotary dial (a simple circle, visually) that changes color from full blue(actual position) to full yellow(triggered scene\snapshot position). this dial can be midi controlled by relative hardware encoders.
2- absolute controllers - it's more difficult, because the controller is phisically fixed on a value.
if a software absolute ncoder is used for morphing it can be resetted to zero everytime a scene is triggered, so you only have to move it to the right to control the morphing.

if a hardware fader or pot is used the morphing will be controlled only by a range of values that goes from the first cc-value recived(lower-limit \ actual position) and 127(triggered position), if values lower than the "lower-limit" are recived the lower limit is substituted by lower values but there are no morphing events until the values rise again. so i can set the hardware controller to zero without unwanted effects...
i think this is the easiest way

so if you start energyXT with a blank project, and then add midi2qwerty, it crashes? before sending any midi to it?
and is this with the latest version, from the link in the first post of this thread?

see if this one works: http://thepiz.org/xt/midi2qwerty_test.zip

-PIKU- wrote:hey piz , did you use juce for midipads?
do you think it's too hard to develop midi plugins for someone that only uses maxmsp to build plugins??
yes, all my GUI plugins use juce. i've never tried max/msp, so i can't really say, but to write plugins with juce you do need to know C++. i learned it mainly from the tutorial at cplusplus.com. that, along with the juce documentation and the example plugin, should be enough to get started.

could you use >64 and <64 instaed of 127 and 0 for cc selection?

another request: standalone version for midi2qwerty.
increase the number of conversion slots to 8 or 16.
midi port in and out selection.
4 instant load presets

all midi datas that are not selected to be converted in ascii will be forwarded o midi out port. a virtual midi port like midiyoke or maplemidi can be used to send midi inside any host.

my intection is to use the native midi port of my motherboard alwais connected to a midi controller, midi2qwerty will open at windows start.

Post

i've already made some of those improvements, but if you need it standalone, it's probably better to use Bome's Midi Translator.

i updated all the plugins to use vst sdk version 2.4, added "instrument" versions for Windows (needed with Cubase and Live), and brought all the linux versions up to date.

i haven't actually tested these, so consider them experimental.

i can't control "," and "." can you fix this bug? it's for scrollbars in xt!

to get it standalone i used another ext2 session that uses ASIO DUMMY... very good

coud you include mouse right\middle\left click in midi2qwerty?

Post

have you tried the latest version? "," and "." are in there, and there's a preset for zooming and scrolling. does this not work? it might depend on your keyboard layout.

ok... there was a bug with that preset in XT2. but it doesn't scroll anyway, even though it does in XT1... hmmm. i don't know if i'll be able to fix that.

.

...

all right. it wasn't working with instantaneous keypresses. new version coming soon.
