Only one small problem, he used MS-Word, so it messed a bit the HTML design, I will fix that. ;)

Heh. Didn't really have anything else to edit a web page in since I don't really do webpages! :) Glad it's easy to fix at least. :D

The sine wav thing is not such a problem since I can adjust the env...I did compare a clean and a dirty note in Cool Edit Pro with an exported wav of CX3 and noticed something...the notes, G2 and G3(G5 and G4 in Fruity)...G2, the clean one fluctuated on frequency analysis between -15 and +15, but G3, the dirty one stayed around -40...Is this interlacing and/or a tuning issue?

Post

A host issue maybe too? Bad interpolation?

from the manual [Devon Edits ver.]
about requirements.... it says:
SSE Compatible CPU (Pentium 3/4, AMD Athlon/Duron)

I think this could be confusing to some people [it would have been to me a short time ago...] You see I don't think the Athlon's ARE SSE chips... I think they are NOT SSE... AMD XP's are SSE!

Post

ok got both versions now... I'm gonna have to really put in some work on writing here to make it read more clearly... please be a little patient.....

I think EVE deserves a clear manual that is not in 'geekese talk'....

IMHO too damn many manuals make the assumption that the reader is a long time pc guru... I will not write from that POV... so give me a little time and I'll send up my version... thanks

And I'm relying on William's knowledge of the AMD chips for accuracy on that piece. :)

I thought about killing off some of the 'geek-ese' stuff, but then again, I really need to know from William how important some of that stuff is to him personally. The doing everything in assembler with SSE code is probably a badge of honor to him, and wants to show it off a bit, which really makes a difference if you're another coder looking at this, but a standard musician who doesn't know a PC doesn't give a rip if it was programmed in Visual basic or pure assembly code, he just cares that it WORKS. (Damn, now THAT is a masterful run-on sentence! :) )

Athlon do have SSE, actually, since Duron 1Ghz, all AMDs chips has SSE.

You can't remove too much of the "geek" talk, is very important. ;)

Hence why I didn't touch that, or treaded very lightly to read better. I knew I should trust my gut on that one. :D

ok first edits and 're writes' done and send in email to William.... most likely needs some more going over to fine tune but think I fixed a lotta messed up english and also tried to clarify a few things... and to get a consistent format going....

but the hard work was already done by DASH writers... nice going ... I even learned a thing or two reading the manual [what a surprise] :D :D :D

Not quite right.. My old cpu, a athlon 1.4 ghz had no sse. But as soon as the athlon xp appeared - and also once amd started using the + ratings instead of mhz - sse has been in all athlons. I'm not familiar with Durons though. maybe they got sse at 1ghz? dunno.

could not post last night seemed like a glitch in kvr... anyway... sent an edited version to William in email...

didnot mean kill 'geek-esse' words... but to make them more clear for some readers... sometimes it's just a matter of expanding abbreviations or making the read into a full sentence...

seems to be some confusion here on the AMD and SSE... very clearly NOT all Athlon's above 1 gig will work... for example I had a 1.4 amd athlon thunderbird in an abit kt7a mobo and it would not accept SSE apps... so was that the cpu's prob or the mobo's prob? At anyrate, it's not accurate then to say "if you have an AMD cpu 1gig or better then EVE will work... there is more to it and that could definately be missleading..."

Now I could surely be mistaken but I thought what I had seen was that SSE came out in Amd's with the XP series... this really needs to be cleared up, no?

in the edits I made, tried to get a more consistent formating of items and to arrange some of the sentence to a diff order... ie, the ADSR section info... personally I like to read blocks of info that hang together and then go to the next info...

corrected many spelling errors... well the spell check did help me on that... hahahaha

took out many periods where the line is NOT really a sentence, but just a list. Other punctuation fixes also.

oh fyi I did mine in Word as the editor also, but from inside IE... and if you have is just save as and name the htm file to a new name, then it will save in the same folder and will be able to keep the htm images, etc.

Devons just didn't include that method but could likely be fixed.

One more time!

P3 & above do have SSE instructions
Athlon (thunderbird & below cores) do not have SSE instructions
AthlonXP (palimino & above cores) do have SSE instructions
Duron (spitfire & below cores) do not have SSE instructions
Duron (morgan & above cores) do have SSE instructions

Post

Also, SSE is NOT motherboard dependant. It's a set of instrucitons on the chip that's either there or it's not.

Pough, again, thaaaank you for reminding our silly minds about that. I will include this exact info on the manual, is more complete. ;)

Best Regards, WilliamK
