If you like the Wavesequencing aspect of the Wavestation I suggest trying the demo of Wusikstation with it's ability to load user samples.
I guess since I already have Wusik, the M1 would be better for me.
Now if I can just find the demo versions... :?
Click on buy and start going through the process, before you can buy you have to register, once registered(come out of the buying process) go to http://www.korguser.net/login.asp?OS=WIN&LAN=1&TOP=1

Here and then login and you can download the demo's!

Can someone make this info a sticky :hihi:
I started doing all that and at some point it asked to install a Japanese language pack, is it supposed to do all that just to download a demo?

If so I guess I'll just forget it.

The poor mapping is entirely Korgs fault. They only provided THREE (count 'em) automation controls for the Wavestation's automation.. Those being the Volume and the Joystick X and Y. Nothing else is mapped, which is a pretty poor show by Korg (in fact, I can't think of a VST which is worse in this regard, other than ones which don't support any automation).

You'd be stuck using a midi template on any controller. So using an alternative won't help you any, except that it'd maybe come with a pre-defined midi CC template.

If they're ever going to update these instruments improving the Wavestation's automation would be my main request, right after getting rid of the MS20 scroll bar :)

yeah I must admit I wasn't bothered about the C/R part but now I'm having these issues trying to get M1 to authorise I sent an email to Korg I don't know how effective that will be. SO at the moment I am running demo mode on something I paid for a bit pissed off.

You need to get that wax out of your ears. The ESQ-1 is under rated.
You need to get the shit out of your head...........The ESQ was great in it's day but has long since lost it's appeal which is why it's leaning up against the wall and not even connected anymore.
Speak for yourself. Its still a popular synth.

It's really a matter of opinion. I had heard so many good things about the SQ80 I figured I'd get one and use it as a sound source/controller. I didn't like the feel of it much and as a sound source... I didn't care for it. In fact, I think the freeware emulation was actually better than the original. Definitely more fun to program. The SQ80 went back up on ebay a week after it hit my studio.

I love good hardware when there's a point to it. I've got a few modern analogs, hybrids and an FM synth that I like a lot, but there's a reason that the SQ80s go for pretty cheap on eBay. They're just not that great.

I'm sorry you don't like the synth. But but the ESQ-1 is highly regarded amongst most synth collectors. The synth has an average 4.5/5 meta rating on Vintagesynth. You guys are obviously in the fringe minority. The voice chip was designed by the same guy who made the acclaimed C64 SID chip and he really worked his magic!

This song was composed entirely on an ESQ-1, its doing a Mbira sound. You can't tell me this sounds like crap?

Bought the M1, downloaded, installed, and authorized pretty easily. Maybe I was lucky! :-o :hihi:

Loving it! :D

That's dim about the Wavestations automation, gaah! Wat were they thinking? :?
