A bunch of quality custom presets were created as a by-product of this contest (you can hear them prominently in the submissions).

After the contest is over, would any of you contestants be willing to contribute your best new, custom Podolski presets to the KVR community -- as part of a special collection commemorating this OSC?

I think that closing out an OSC in this fashion would have been a greatly appreciated (and a greatly anticipated) feature of the contests. What synth enthusiast doesn't want more great sounds for their synths? So many decent soft synths were featured in the previous 50+ OSCs; just imagine an OSC synth preset collection commemorating each of them, here on the KVR Audio website.
That sounds intriguing

I like this proposal. I was very happy with the preset collection that resulted from the Kairatune OSC 36 One Synth Challenge:

Only thing with mine, is that quite a few of them are layers, and sound vastly different on their own. Like my kick has a strange upper layer. But i'll definitely 'donate' some for sure

I also think getting PC only synths ported to Mac will not be easy. Maybe easier for users to inherit an old PC to use for those competitions..

I guess it's a bit of the same with collecting presets after OSC competitions. Once people are done with their piece (or synths) and deadlines etc and started a new one, there's not much incentive to sort through the mess :) that's the user project and pick out the worthy ones, especially as they might only work or be worthy in the setting and with the layering and effects etc. Earlier calls for presets have not been fruitful and show this, but of course there could be the odd sounds released. What would be cool is to share the whole FX chain (layers + effects), but same thing here..

First point totally true... depends of course how the VSTi was programmed. Let's say the DSP is all encapsulated in a library, while the GUI, and VST calls are as well... one would simply need to replace VST with AU, and then find a suitable GUI. The gui would be the major thing I'm thinking.

On your later point, that's super true. I'll definitely make a video showing how I made my song, and the layers, effects chains, etc. Not sure I can be arsed to save all the presets and FX, but we'll see.

I guess the ultimate thing is just to simply upload your project really... that's the easiest, assuming someone has your DAW.

Let me try to ask one or two developers just so see what they say, will let you know when I get answer.

But really, hardly any decent cross platform Mac/PC synths left so fair warning to Mac OSCers that it will likely be a lot of PC only synths coming up.

:( Quick word to the sad faced mac users, I was never able to get bootcamp working well for audio, but turns out the problem was my firewire soundcard. Recently replaced it with one that connects with USB and now it's working great!
If you can get a copy of windows all you need is to create a 30-60GB partition (or maybe even less) of your HD for the windows os and host software, and you'll be back in the game! :D

Here is my contribution to this month's challenge

Nightpolymath - Mercury

http://soundcloud.com/nightpolymath/nig ... th-mercury

Ten instances of Podolski in FL Studio 11. Only Fruity Limiter and Compressor used.

I'm having a debilitating dry spell lately, and can't come up with any good tunes. :( My real job is taking way too much of my time. Wish I had more time to come up with better stuff. Beats sitting at a workstation doing Excel and Powerpoints.

Hello, I would like to participate in the contest but I don't see where to check KVR time. Last post I see was on 30 evening, so does it means I can still submit something till 31 at midnight ?

A few dumb questions because I will go to sleep now and will try tomorrow to finish my song (I only have one loop for now :D) :
Can we use EQ, filters, volume automation within the DAW ? I guess distortion cannot be used but what about saturation ? When does saturation becomes distortion ?

Thanks and good luck to everybody.

Hi everyone.
I'm new to this OSC thing, so I hope I did everything right.
Submission: https://soundcloud.com/kondarivan/kondarivan-earthrise

DAW: Reaper x64
FX: DAW's limiter, reverb and EQ.
Amount of Podolskys: 21

Apparently, this is now the biggest OSC challenge yet, huh?

I think saturators are allowed. Otherwise they wouldn't be in the Recommended Plugins list, right? I guess the point is just not to over-use it until the synth's sound becomes unrecognizable.
About EQ, fiters and volume automation, I'm pretty sure they are legit, as long as they stick to the rules. In fact, you could just read the rules for a much more detailed description: https://sites.google.com/site/kvrosc/rules
Good luck!

miskaseppa wrote:Just finished my first ever one-synth song "Elektrotanz"

I used:

- Logic Pro 9
- about 50 instances of Podolsky
- Logic channel EQ, Compressor, AdLimiter, silver/gold/platinumVerb

It was really fun to try to make a song with just one sound source. I think the hardest things were the high-end cymbal/percussive sounds and drums. Lots of layering and EQ.
The style of music was also new to me, so it was a very nice challenge.
I really like this track. Definitely will be voting for it.

One question though: can you please reassure me the build at 1:51 wasn't done with rendering/sampler/etc.
It sounds just a bit too perfect ;)8)
"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"
