I'm playing a bit with the preview for some kind of EDM. This are 6 instances of the Hive (Drums from Groove Agent and some additional effects like Valhalla and the new NI Replica delay).
The "Jarre style" noise is also the Hive (stoned phaser + pink noise)

Definitely a place for a kvr Hive beta bank would be a good idea.Breeze wrote:
BTW, maybe we should start a Hive Patches thread...
I also think if people are going to post up sound clips they should post the patch as well or not bother.

With the 'multiply' knob, the denominator is multiplied by the percent value. This can lead to most time signatures being covered with a bit of calculation:Numanoid wrote: The only thing I can point my finger at straight away is that there are too few options in TimeBase for the clock in the Arp & Seq, more is needed than just four.
For 1/4 base, +/- 25% leads to integers for the time base:
50% => 1/2
75% => 1/3
100% ...
125% => 1/5
150% => 1/6
175% => 1/7
200% => 1/8
For other times:
1/8 base, +/- 12.5%
1/16 base, +/- 6.25%
1/32 base, +/- 3.125% ( 1/odd integer denominators 33 and above can't be dialed in due to .005% increment, oh well

Thank you to the various people who are sharing patches! Hive does remind me a lot of Sylenth.

Don't agree with you at all with this. I think the clips (well most of them anyway) help showcase Hive. I don't see anything wrong with the designers keeping their patches for their own work, or even to sell later. Expectation of 'freeness' has become too pervasive imho.OutCider wrote:.........

Funny I look at it differently -To paraphrase, too expectations of 'greed' and 'self' has become too pervasive imho.zvenx wrote: Don't agree with you at all with this. There is a dedicated soundbank forum for them to showcase their wares. It's not my thread, so they can do what they like, but listening to soundcloud is no match for having the patch and exploring the synth to see how they were made... Which is why those posting patches with their sound clips gain my respect. I salute you for your community spirit. Patch designers with an ulterior motives for posting, not so much.
But let's not derail a great topic here. We can all agree how wonderful Hive sounds, whoever made the presets.

Downloaded the demo linked in the op, assuming it is the most recent build...
- I like the way the envelopes work, they seem to restart from zero with every key, not the annoying pick-up mode found in most synths.
- I also like the mousewheel operation without clicking
(Both points unlike with Element.)
- The envelopes are simple yet good, without annoying click and blip sounds. (Unlike with Dune 2.) There is a certain low-frequency backlash sound when attack is less than 3. It is not the same sound as when attack is set to zero, a different bump that most synths display, though.
- Interestingly, I notice hardly any difference in terms of CPU when I switch between just a few and 16 waves per osc.
- Since the mod matrix targets are not available, is there a list somewhere? Just so that I know...
All in all, a good synth that gets things done fast and even works on AMD computers
Did an ancient electric piano patch, maybe some dinosaurs around here like that sound as well

Sure, in a freeware synth that would be a work aroundxh3rv wrote:This can lead to most time signatures being covered with a bit of calculation
