Fantastic sounds as always Michael. These are definitely going on my iPod even if they aren't complete works. As you said, the inspiration from them is quite strong.
Thanks again!

Half the tracks on my first CD have Zebra on them. Track #2 is entirely zebra (apart from the flute).

Congratulations with your CD! The songs have an ancient feel, and I am thinking a lot of the nature when listening to it. Beautiful Zebra and flute artworkVicDiesel wrote:Half the tracks on my first CD have Zebra on them. Track #2 is entirely zebra (apart from the flute).

The patch for huge chords sampling concept is the following:
3 layers which have some moving effects,
1 digital layer = creates the mid range variations
1 saw pad layer = creates a pad which binds things together
1 high note layer = creates the bell effects which reminds of the typical Rolands D-50 fantasia bell sound with various timbres.
The patch is velocity sensitive for more subtle chords using soft playing or if you choose for more open chords with hard playing.
Sample a long held chord like min7, perhabs add octave bass notes.
Import the sample to your sampleplayer, alter the starting point and start exploring the sounds that comes out. Usually its the first 1-2 seconds that defines a percieved sound.

Note: i made 1 min samplings which i then edited to 30 sec crossfade looped samples.

I've been researching typical 80's bell and air pads from oldies like Rolands D-50 and Korg M1. Now since i dont own any of these synths i have to rely on my memory of those sounds. Infact i've been trying to nail those sounds for a VERY long time but i'm getting pretty close now.
Here is a little theme with variation of some of these pads:

Hybrid Strings
Fantsia

Hey Michael, I can sense some really sakamotesque stuff there, with hints of Kitaro and 80ies Vangelis
Can't wait to listen on a proper setup!

I didn't think the strings and choir set so well in the mix, but the other patches was pure wow, wow, wow, WOW! I have listened 3 times in a row and now I'm getting late for work...mkastrup wrote:I've been researching typical 80's bell and air pads from oldies like Rolands D-50 and Korg M1. Do you plan to make a new sound pack with these 80's sounds?

too caught up in the beautiful composition of the demo on the first pass! lol one listens with a different pair of ears the first time. but on the second pass i heard fantastic pads that sat like silk wrapped around the bass and lead... i agree with Ben about the choir, that it was not as smooth as the others. that may have simply been a question of context. i do not know the boards you mention, i mean to say that i do not own or know them by sound (i only own esq-1 and juno60, but i can tell when i sound will work in a mix and these do. PLEASE do more soundsets. I love the ZebraAS+OS. smooth smoothmkastrup wrote:I've been researching typical 80's bell and air pads from oldies like Rolands D-50 and Korg M1.
