Nope. The Atmosphere soundsources are already there. (Type Atmosphere in the search field of the Soundsource Browser)Bobbotov wrote:Incidentally, I just received Omnisphere and was going through the patches last night but aside from being overwhelmed I really couldn't see specifically how the Atmosphere patches were integrated. I am sure I missed something (a lot actually).
But the Atmosphere Patches didn't make it in time for the 1st rev of the DVDs. They will be in the next patch update available early next week.

I would have liked some audio demos right at the release, too.
But on the other hand, I feel that Spectrasonics has earned a certain reputation for a reason and I guess Eric is well aware of the different pro/cons concerning videos/audio-demos being available right from the start or not. It's his choice. I personally will just check back in a week or two, when the official audio demos are up.
I assume that in the end many studios/musicians/producers are going to buy Omnisphere regardless of audio demos, just because the already use other Spectrasoncis products such as Athmosphere, Trilogy or Stylus RMX

Eric has stated that there will eventually be audio demos, but they will not be posted for a long time, similar to the release of Stylus RMX. My impression is that their priority is currently focused on the tutorial videos, and programming of additional patches.Gustar wrote:I personally will just check back in a week or two, when the official audio demos are up.

Well, there has been music before omnisphere was available, so I am not exactly in a hurry
Eventually the www will be flooded with user mp3s and people might base their decision on those examples. To me it would make sense to put up at least a few official audio examples in the near future, but if Spectrasonics feel they can sell enough copies without it, who am I to judge ?

I think our friends at Spectrasonics might be more taken up with sound designGustar wrote:Well, there has been music before omnisphere was available, so I am not exactly in a hurryEventually the www will be flooded with user mp3s and people might base their decision on those examples. rather than composition...
tune. But I am really interested in hearing the range of sounds the synth parts of it can make.... Thanks to those folks who have put up a few pioneering samples...

Thanks for clarifying, Eric.spectrum wrote:You can control the depth independently for every destination, but not separate curves.dreamkeeper wrote:Thanks for the reply, Glenn. You guys are doing a great job here!
Sounds good. So is it possible to have different curves for different parameters? That would be quite important to me, as I like to make patches as expressive and responsive as possible.GlennO wrote: Yes, velocity is available as a modulation source and there is a rather extensive velocity curve editor.
However, we worked really hard on the dynamic responsiveness and making the curves sound very musical. I think you'll find that it's highly tweakable and that between the curve editor and all the individual depths of velocity that you have a great deal of control over the dynamics of the parameters and you can make it extremely expressive.

just got it installed! (only 2 hours for me - was expecting 5+ as posted by others - so that was a nice start!)
sounds are super! just working my way thru them. good news that the Atmosphere patches will be in the next upgrade - was searching for Hollywood Strings (which seem to be lots of peoples 'go to' for modern strings!!!)
I seem to just be getting a generic image with the sounds - not the photos/icons that were shown @ NAMM and on the preview videos - not that important, maybe I need to enable them?!?
anywhoo
all good here - thanks eric, glenn & co.

The pictures tend to be in the "Soundsource Browser" rather than the "Patch Browser". If you are in the "Patch Browser" you should typically see a blue picture that say "Omnisphere Patch" on top of a cloudscape. But close the browser after selecting the patch and click on the soundsource layers for that patch (either the one for Layer A or Layer B) and you should see a picture and more of a description of how that part of the sound was created.somebozo wrote:just got it installed! A mb synth... I mean a small VSTi (small in size). I'm asking to myself if it's necessary to install a 40Gb library when you can layer the synths you already have. Anyway It was not a bad comment about Omnisphere, I'm considering to purcase it (as soon as I can hear more sounds). But I want to be sure it's worth to load huge sampled programs instead of using a synth.jackmazzotti wrote:MaxSynths wrote:If you love synths install a few mb synth and create the sounds you wantjackmazzotti wrote:guys if you love synths then this is something to get really excited about not complain about
No, seriously... it is necessary to have a huge library like this when (I think) you can have the same (or very similar) sounds with synths like cameleon, absynth, etc.?
i am not sure what you are saying
what is a mb synth?
cameleon and absynth are great
but what are you taking about?
you think they there are the same as omnisphere?

Max Synths, even if you don't use the large library of soundsource samples at all there is a lot that can done on the synth side with the generated waveforms (two variations of saw and square, triangle, sine, noise) alone. If you read some of the other posts on here, for instance by Glenn, that shows a a bit about how you can get a lot of VA sounds with a twist (waveshaping, some FM, ringmodulation, etc.)
Start throwing that synthesis section onto the included library of soundsources (which I look on as a large collection of fodder for creating new sounds), plus a few sample specific features (e.g. granular options, sample start modulation, etc.) and you have an extremely rich set of choices for creating a new sound.
