The advantages of VST3 are solely dependent on the host IMHO. I'd stay with VST2 as long as MIDI isn't dead and VST3 doesn't fully support it in expectation of something better.mevla wrote:BTW, if someone can quickly say something about this. Using Linux, what advantages does the VST3 brings, or, why should I use the VST3 version instead ?

See FAQ on first post for glimpse of hope on CPU savings.tony10000 wrote:I really love the sound of the Repro 5, but the CPU usage is really high on my old IBM T410 w/i5-520M and 8GB of RAM. It is usable if I keep the number of voices down (but still really high). Most of the 8 voice patches crush the CPU even in CPU saver mode.
I hope that you will optimize the code and also provide various quality options a la Diva (draft, fast, great, divine) for those of us with less powerful systems. I have no problem running Diva, Bazille, Zebra, Hive Repro One and Ace on this system. Hosts tested are FL Studio, Ableton and Reason.
But really also, neither the oscillators nor the filters sound great with lower settings. The filter doesn't even work with less oversampling, or would sound seriously muffled.

I can't say much about it. Please send a crash report to our support team (support@).FrettedSynth wrote:BTW Win7 32bitFrettedSynth wrote:Wonderful sounding synth, one problem I am having is Repro1 ran great in eXT3, now with update of beta neither version 1 or 5 will load without crashing the host? Ah, there it's been hidingFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote:Lyrebird can be setup to act as a chorus or a delay. Use the Chorus/Short setting and add some modulation. The downside to this is that you lose the delay. I mentioned it somewhere yesterday but I'd like a mode that acts as a chorus and a delay (my System 8 has a Chorus+Delay mode for example).fluffy_little_something wrote:Regarding effects, I see a reverb, EQ, delay, distortion, two more whatever they are. But no chorus?
The System 8 thing is similar to the ensemble effect on old Korgs?

I've been testing and haven't found anything important, but the higher than expected CPU usage. Two minor things:
1. In RePro-1, the browser preset info sometimes goes beyond the GUI effects or keys boundary, depending on patch.
2. In RePro-5, velvet presets can't be selected with the mouse wheel.

I guess it is what it is, then. Those with lesser systems will just have to pray for further code optimizations and live with fewer voices. As with everything, it is a tradeoff.

Since Multi Core is working well for me, please add a preference to keep it turned on.

Well, yeah... otoh, 5 years ago we had *many* people complain about Diva's CPU usage. In the past two or three years that went away, like almost completely. Computers *are* getting faster, even if GHz don't go up that much. Modern processors simply calculate important operations in fewer cycles than previous generations. E.g. additions and logical operations, funny enough, nowadays use half a CPU cycle to complete.tony10000 wrote:"But really also, neither the oscillators nor the filters sound great with lower settings. I think there are quite a lot of us who are experiencing a huge difference in performance and not seemingly adversely affected by multiple instances, so I'd add another plea to rethink this.Urs wrote:FAQ first postkrankyone wrote:Since Multi Core is working well for me, please add a preference to keep it turned on.![]()

What? I've never heard that. In fact, I've heard the opposite. Cockpits and planetariums all use red on black because it doesn't affect your night vision (and undoubtedly, dark studios and bedrooms)fluffy_little_something wrote:The red displays will remain a problem, though. Blue on black is terrible.
