You are perfectly right with this inconsistent behaviour!
I reviewed all phrase generators and made the necessary changes.
The lightning symbol should be shown only when either the rhythm generator or the phrase generator has randomness, or both.
(When I say "phrase generator" I mean an algorithm that creates MIDI notes based on your settings, regardless if it uses randomness or not.)
Thanks!
Attila

Q: If I drop something labeled as 'Generator' into a track, should I expect to be able to click on the lightning symbol and regenerate a new phrase every time?
Sometimes that works for me (e.g. Ostinato Generator) and sometimes not (e.g. Piano Run Generator).

I know I promised you the note-based 'canvas' tracks where direct operations are possible with the imported notes. At the moment RC offers not too much if you work with imported MIDI. This will change soon.lovemusic15 wrote: Sat Nov 14, 2020 12:51 pm Is there any new features for people that like to use their own midi files. RC has a great feature where you can import a full midi songs but what can you do with them once they're imported.
Thanks,
Attila

Attila, your ongoing commitment to evolving and perfecting Rapid Composer, incl. your openness to feedback and the ideas of others truly stands out - as does the very rapid pace of your fixes and enhancements.
Looking forward to the official release of 4.0 so I can send some richly deserved funds your way!

Amazing!BluGenes wrote: Sat Nov 14, 2020 1:21 am For example, render 4 bars at 1 bar phrase lengths. Now glue those 4 into 1 single phrase, 4 bars long. Double click that phrase and play in the phrase editor. I am getting redraw issues..
Thanks!

The good news is that with the redesigned internals, new features will be added much more quickly than in the past. So fasten seat belts!
Honestly I think, with everyone's help and efforts here, v4.0 will be the best RapidComposer version ever. Release: tomorrow, November 16th! I am very grateful to everyone who contributed to the biggest update so far

One more thing I did notice. I started using Win 10 stuff that allows me to put windows on my desktop in certain sizes and positions.
I am unable to resize RC as a whole, so, I can't make it fit like I want into one of the desktop areas.. If it could resize, it would work.

I would really appreciate that as I find it difficult to use RC in the way it was meant to be used, especially because you can only open up one instance when using it in Ableton. Making modern music in RC is not as easy as i would like it to be .
To be able to do the same kind of things you can do with a generator with your own midi is very important and is the missing piece to making this and all round option when it comes to production.
Thanks
