...which answers the question why it wasn't available right away. you want to import old stuff - you pay up. i wouldn't have gone that route, but hey, it's their business.DarkStar wrote:To save reading the whole thread:
ST3 Free can only Import its own instruments (there are weekly releases of more instruments), not Xpansion Tanks nor the old libraries (MP, SMoog etc) etc.

I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

Indeed... I predict that there will a solution at some point.VitaminD wrote:Haha understandable.antithesist wrote:Yes.TheoM wrote:Is anyone not buying this because all they want is a blank slate version for 64 bit to play their current ST libraries?
I can't be arsed reading 200 pages but that's where I am at.
I would like to play all of my Xpansion Tank sounds in the ST3 Free (or at least lower cost version) too.

We have been gauging the interest and watching the comments so I've forwarded the suggestions regularly. I can't guarantee anything but I know that your comments, suggestions, and concerns are being put on the radar.

Great, thanks for sharing that, chili beans.
We did another tutorial video too, this one on the STRETCH engine. We've already discussed how there is enough additional material to potentially do another about it so hopefully there will also be even more coming on this topic. Here is the video:

I doubt it - I will guess that ST3 Free checks inside the instrument file for some identifying metadata.

I think Peter previously stated the demo version (or free version as they call it) will only import the specific free instruments they are creating for it.
One could always attempt it I suppose but I doubt it will work. Otherwise why would any one pay for the upgrade?
Happy Musiking!

Will be monitoring the next round of 200 pages with popcorn in hand. (Sorry, emoticon not at the ready. Totally my bad.)
Attention Troll Police!! I predict lots and lots of "trolling" in your future. Be prepared. Stay vigilant. We'll all get through this together.
You need to limit that rez, bro.

i am trying to understand this statement... individuals have been asking for a 64-bit player for years... that begs the question... when did the "gauging the interest" start... last week?Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:We have been gauging the interest and watching the comments so I've forwarded the suggestions regularly. Come on, it is not that difficult... How many people would have bought ST3 if IK had come out with a ST3 free player?! People who ask for a "ST3 free player" should just buy ST3 via the 99$ upgrade, as everyone else did. Otherwise, it means they don't really need it. The "I don't need the 30gb sounds" is a poor excuse, since one can customize IK factory library (it does not come with indelible "core factory" sounds). I, for instance, had only 2 gb out of 6 in ST2, the rest I removed from HHD. One can even play ST3 as an "empty player" if you like. Otherwise, just play ST2 with a bridge, and don't break balls. I do with Sylenth1 and Vanguard. Again, if IK comes out next week with a free player (having the same functions, effects and importing features of the commercial one) I guess many people who just baught it will not be that happy.
