Personally I'm not thinking about changing. But use it for its specialties.dzilizzi wrote: Tue May 07, 2019 5:21 pm I'm not a big Cubase fan. I use it because of the Chord track but it takes me forever to figure out how to do anything and their manual is not easy to use. Whereas I bought Studio One 4 and was able to put down midi right away, similar to ProTools. If it weren't for the fact that not everything comes in AAX, I probably would just stick with ProTools, but most of the midi tools don't work with it.
But for the crossgrade price, I would probably grab it if you are thinking about changing. Totally different workflow from Ableton.
In Ableton Live there are some restrictions and missing functionality which is better implemented in Cubase.
E.g. Ableton can only export Wave files up to 2gb. Also the Midi tools are quite simple still compared against Cubase where it's one of the primary selling points. You can scale velocities, batch edit midi over several tracks. Assign custom keys/macros. (Yes Live can now edit up to 5 clips in one, but that's still very limited)
Ok I also have Studio One, could do it there. But what interests me about Cubase are the Midi/Orchestral features. I'm not scoring/composing much yet, but I plan to do it in the future. The question is, it seems this is a once-in-a-life offer, like it was with Reason 10 upgrade from lite/elements versions (which I got for 70€). So now I'm thinking of investing. Only thing that really makes me think twice is the dongle-only situation.
