I joined KVR just to follow this discussion when I saw on rekkerd this synth was updated with Virus import. I have a Virus B and TI. Some really good information in here, but I agree with the others like VitaminD and rasmusklump that a restricted demo, an old video and we are just supposed to 'take the word' of people like 'kmonkey', to see if it fits our needs
doesn't work for people on a tight budget with limited disposable income.
Ran a KVR search and there is something free called DSP56300 to look into further.
Another one and done visitor. Just another 'diva' I suppose. No pun intended Dirtgrain.

Maybe he recently lost a great job he had? Maybe he now has a family and didn't when he bought the two Virus synths?
But Adam has decided not to include the import bank function in the demo. He must have his reasons. I am sure for him those reasons make a lot of sense.
I think we need to respect that.

No disagreement from me about Adam's decision .... only about some guy crying poverty on not being able to afford an €89 synth when he already owns hardware worth more than 20 times that.
Maybe his circumstances changed, maybe he needs to re-think his priorities, not Adam's problem

I have been trying the pre-import Viper demo and am able to tell if I like it or not based on the sounds I can get out of it....and I do like Viper. Virus import will simply be icing on the cake.
Lord knows I don't need another synth but I wouldn't mind adding Viper to my collection.
How does everybody who has purchased the synth and use it extensively find the stability? Seems pretty solid here but again with the demo version.

Yeah, you can't appease everyone. This happens in every thread about every synth. People have their deal breakers.
I was playing around with Viper again last night, and still surprised how good it sounds and how well it functions. Audio wise, it hits the mark. It sounds so good.
Viper is a virus killer. Listen to the synth, listen to the audio comparison videos. It's over for virus. That's it. Just buy the thing if you like the sound.
I guarantee anyone that likes the virus sound will love the viper as its basically the exact same sound. An insane feat considering the hype and reputation of the virus sound.

I understand the frustration with the demo not having the Virus import, but think of this scenario: a person downloads the demo, opens a virus bank he needs, exports the track (30 seconds is plenty to export a loop of automated section). He basically used Viper for "free". Is that fair? From my point of view, if someone would have made a Virus emulation, and with Virus import, I would have been amazed and would buy in an instant.
Thats why a demo version is called "demonstration", so you can try how it sounds, how the core functions behave, and if its something for you. The demo version currently provides this. Its like trying a demo of a video game, you only get 1 or 2 levels you can try but only the full version has everything. You dont say, "I wont buy this game until I can play all the levels". Not every feature should be in a demo, its a decision I made and Im sorry some people dont like it, but I still offer to help with the conversion as mentioned before.

For my part, I will buy Viper because it is a worthy representative of the Virus ti2.
Importing ti2 Virus patches is a big bonus.
Here we are lucky that Adam does everything he can and he does it admirably well to give us an exceptional vst.
The purchase must be made in relation to what Viper offers as is.
I understand that the demo version without imports may bother some people, but a lot of answers confirm that the imports of the Virus patches work very well.
So Viper is a vst which is a worthy version of Virus ti2 and it should be purchased as such.
Importing Virus Ti2 patches is an added value.

For some reason, Viper 1.1.0 does not show up in the new Ableton 11.1 Win after a rescan. JP6K shows up with no problems. Any ideas?

UPDATE: I recopied the VST file and now it shows up. Strange.

For me the import functionality is the important aspect I am interested in: how close do Virus patches sound.adamtrance wrote: Wed Feb 02, 2022 4:24 pm I understand the frustration with the demo not having the Virus import, but think of this scenario: a person downloads the demo, opens a virus bank he needs, exports the track (30 seconds is plenty to export a loop of automated section). Although I have no direct comparison, I think there are significant differencesin the character. And while Viper is a really good sounding VSTi, IMO Virus still plays in it's own, unmatched league.
But if the sound is close enough then Viper maybe could be used as a replacement of the hw in the demo phase and even in the production phase.
The hw would only be needed again for the stems rendering before mixing.
Viper has an import function now: would it be possible to EXPORT to the Virus format?
Changing the sounds in Viper and then exporting it to the hw, would be even more comfortable.
That exists already. And its even free. From my point of view, if someone would have made a Virus emulation, and with Virus import, I would have been amazed and would buy in an instant.
Sounds identical to the HW.
But it's is so CPU heavy, that it can't be used in the normal production process.
For those who do not own a Virus, a Viper Virus-format sound export could be an interesting option, no?
