I’m thinking of getting the boxed version of the K12 update for the install HDD that comes with it.

So how exactly does NI prevent users from using that HDD as external USB storage for the Komplete sound libraries?

It's a regular hard drive so you can use it as you like and NI don't care.
You can format the drive and use Native Access to download the libraries to the drive if you like.

Just as a note, most of these types of drives (installers) are 5400 RPM and may not be fast enough to use for audio streaming. They do make great backup drives though.

What's the cheapest shop for the NI Kontakt upgrade atm ?
(what I've found is Best Service €95 for the download and thomann Germany €99 for the HDD version)

Time+Space for now, with a Zero-G library for free on top.

Time & Space only have the boxed version, so you need to factor in shipping (unless you are in the UK). Best Service also offers the download version.

You can ask them to send you the serial only by email. Did it in the past and got again confirmation today.

I don't have a great answer, but if you search U-He in the quick search it returns recent threads with "U-He" in the title, most of which are sale threads.

Wonder when NI will update their website with the summer sale. Wanna see if I finally can get the Kontakt crossgrade with a discount... *keeping the hope up*

The crossgrades are usually around November if I remember correctly, this is just for updates and upgrades.

Last year's Summer of Sound: "Been waiting for the right moment? It’s now: Save 50% on updates, upgrades, and crossgrades for all your KOMPLETE instruments and effects." No mention of just crossgrading to Kontakt though?... is that delayed until November?

As far as I know Crossgrades are only available through NI directly and they are usually included in the Summer sale. According to the email that Uncle E sent out, the sale officially starts on Monday. I guess that is when we will know for sure.
