I think it is definitely good to stretch out and do different things in your music.

I wish you had pointed that out earlier, it would have spared me an afternoon of tears.

Still, more SHPN is on its way.

the second one sounds more oriental and mellow to me,i  comb filters on anything especially percs.
what i really like here is the fact that you can just hear the kick in the back and everything else floats around that for me.
very relaxing where damp 1 was a more urgent feel.

both great pieces tho,and ill look forward to more out of the norm experiments from you :)

Great track Steve (Damp 1)

I gotta start using comb filters some more. I somehow stopped using them when I moved from buzz to energy XT. I used to use them for basslines all the time - with a big dirty lopass on them.

Funny you classify the track as drone noise - I guess it just goes to prove that noise can be a very pleasant experience (although the cut up vocal thing you have going is a bit scary)

Just added it to the liveslice examples, as we agreed, good to balance the example mp3's a bit so they dont go too mainstream :-)

Where can one go and get more of your music? I guess I could search this forum for a start

Cheers, John. Overall, I like the mellow vibe on the second one, too. Reminds me a bit of some of the subway buskers here in Toronto. There's a guy here who used t o play a Yangqin, which is a Chinese dulcimer, it used to get this long hollow echo from the station's reverb.

Thanks, Jacob. I'm going to see what else I can muster out of Liveslice for the next little while. I'd classify this track more as not-so-drone-noise from someone-who-does-a-lot-of-drone-noise. It's a bit different (thought not outrageously so) from a lot of the stuff I've published.

The two main places for more music by me:

http://www.sighup.ca/music.html (as vurt kindly pointed out)
http://www.esauradiostudio.com/music.html (for slightly older electro beat kind of stuff)

Any chance the demo tune link could read Damp 1 by SIGHUP and point to www.sighup.ca ? It'll help bump up my Googlefight standing. :hihi:

Excellent, thanks!

both very cool, i love the feel of the first one, it kind of bubbles along and has got a nice evolving feel to it.

the second sounds a lot less complete, nice use of the comb filters though. i've been really geting into mulch myself recently.

cheers,

steve.

Thanks, Steve.

I use Mulch almost exclusively these days. It's come to define the way I make music, really.
