but A3ntar made a couple of very
sweeping statements that exposed his ignorance.

I happen to like blues.. as well as Psytrance, Metal, Jazz and classical,
to name only a few genres I like....
Saying something like "I thought they were
only good for techno" is ignorant..
It's genre prejudice and it sucks.
What if I had said I thought guitars were
only for blues?
That would be me showing my ignorance...
But I know better than to say something
as dumb as that.

If i said you need to know them all or you're ignorant it would indeed be a ridiculous statement. But synthesizers are all around us. E.g. you'll find it pretty hard to go to the cinema and watch a movie without hearing lots of synthesizers. Also you can't switch on the tv or the radio without hearing synthesizers. You can't go to the shopping-mall without hearing synthesizers. They're everywhere where music is. How can you be a musician without noticing it?

This is what I meant with ignorance - sorry if it wasn't obvious - I didn't want to imply that you need to know any certain artist.

But there is no doubt that A3ntar is
ignorant (according to the above definition)
of the use of soft synths and even synths in general in just about all and every
genre that exists.

And I wasn't attacking him personally
by pointing out his ignorance on the
subject...I was merely pointing out
his lack of knowledge on the subject
which IMHO makes him unqualified to comment on it in such a way as he did.

Saying someone is "ignorant" on a subject is not by default an insult...it may also
happen to be true.
In this case I believe it was so.

Now Filterspace cosists of three different plugins and only one of them is a synthesizer. And even though A3ntar claims that he has got no interests in snythesizers whatsoever he post a screenshot of it instead of a screenshot of the filter-plugin or the equalizer. Imo this clearly shows that the original intention of his post was merely to stirr things up. I don't believe his acting of the innocent guy who doesn't realize why the others are upset.

Even if it is a bit hidden I think he is just a troll - granted - I should have ignored him...

Jens I see your point about the posted GUI. So I think he's not THAT unaware (did you notice how I avoided "ignorant"?) of synthesizers as he said.

To get back on topic: While this GUI is one of the better ones I've seen I think it's far from being the best ever. In fact all these pie knobs doesn't make it pleasant to the eye. One of the better GUIs I've seen recently is the Manytones guitar thingy (sorry don't have the correct name of the plugin at hand right now).

I'm a bit surprised that you do care. And yes, I noticed a few things also. No insult, really. Just that I don't like it that such little things get people so much upset that fast. Me included.
And it makes me sad.
If we would just leave this stuff out of here this forum would be soooo much better. Much more enjoyable.

While I agree that Chordspace has a cool GUI I disagree that it's the "GUI of the year". Just my opinion.
On the other hand it always amuses me when I see these stickers on cars or trucks like "van of the year 1863!"

For me chordspace wins hands down
because it is an entirely new interface
for playing VSTis.
I just think Nuffink has shown the most
originality and ingenuity with the GUI.

I'm also chuffed that he bothered to make
a special version for SONAR which is my
sequencer of choice...but that's another story....

The way i saw it, I was discussing the "best ever" aspect of the topic. That is why I added the "Then again, what really is "THE" best? for some beauty, for some fucntion for some trade-off of both..." comment in my first post. I still adhere to my original statment that this GUI is too buisy with little buttons that look like a pie...For ME, the BEST GUI EVER would make use of big nice buttons and sliders instead of knobs.

Dude, to expose something implies that a thing was hidden for it to be exposed. I never hid the fact that I was in total darkness when it comes to the matter at hand. How dumb you have to be not to understand that?
