That was my point, this is not very hard to figure out if a sim sounds good or not..It either has a good sound to begin with or doesn't.

no offense, but there isn't that much to a 5150 combo either...in fact I'm sure anyone can get the same sound...that's why I sold so many, other people put a lot more thought into their guitar sound then that. Some of those people actually can work their way through the myriad of tones in sims and can create great sounds.

I think it would serve your point better if rather than speaking in absolutes you consider that your opinions are just that, yours. It might be the best for others and because you can't hear anything good in sims does not mean that there isn't anything good...unless of course you believe you're so far superior to us that you actually do know what's best for us..

Hink, seriously man I never undersatnd when you take things in that context, and respond in this nature, Of course they are my opinions and I have every rigth to express them. I gave this product a couple positive remarks, but for a guitar TONE it is not what I like. SO what. SHould I keep my mouth shut, I didnt all out trash his product, I said that it can not have a usable tone, meaning in a full mix. I tried using it on a song I put all the amp sims thru of mine,, And it sounded aweful. By itself, yeah I could dick around with it for a little while, but in a entire mix, it completely failed. Its in the distortion of this plug, Yes it has a 15 band eq and such and that helps to make it sit, but the fundamental sound of this plug fails for me.. As most sims do. Look I can find a sound out everyone of these plugs that I can "use". BUt if it is supposed to be an amp, LIKE any amp being digital or real, I either like the tone or don't. ITs that simple and shouldnt be that hard to understand. MOst of the tones of sims are just so fake sounding, that I dont get into them. I have personally gave a positive review of the Simalanalog stuff.. Cause I think that sounds good and has a tone that I was immediately able to sit well in a mix and sound good..

As far as when you "trashed" my music whether you did or not, We were not even discussing music. It would be the equivalent if I was arguing with this devoloper about drum sounds and then casue I was sick of him, I told him " oh and your amp sim sucks too!" I have no beef with this guy in fact I said earlier I give him credit for focusing his product into this type of music. But I also think it needs work to be considered a usable hi quality product..

And yes I use a 5150 combo and the most I do to the sound is maybe a little Eq. YOu are right anyone can certainly attain my sound, but that also is my point, it has a great fundamental sound that I like. And it sounds real good to me, just like Jcm 900 sim. BUt as I said earlier If I want an amp sim to be able to replace or at least compete with my real amps, it sure as well better do what I want, Why would I settle for less. I could get a decent Satriani solo sound out of the new FreeAmpSe. It actually sounds quite good, but thats not REALLy waht I am after, Would it be good for you or 1000 others, maybe. It ain't good enough for me. Its cool, but not what I want, just like I wouldnt want a Mesa Boogie triple Rec. Don't like those either, or I wouldnt want a Randall.. I just dont dig the character of these amps..

Read what I said again, I didn't say to keep your mouth shut...what I said was you benefit more (and others) by not coming across like you're the only one that's right...swearing and acting belligerent never really works out for either side of an intelligent conversation.

I'm a tad older than you, and there was a time I was quite obstinate about what was good and what was not good....often I would indeed say this amp sux, that guitar is crap ect. But then one day I realized when in a debate (intelligent debates anyhow) that being right is a victory, unfortunately you do not hang onto any positive virtues for too long. When you're right you do not gain anything besides a stroke of the ego. Being wrong on the other hand is very rewarding, as you start off with learning something new...too me learning is the greatest gift.

So it's no surprise you do not understand why I respond like I do, I'm sure other people understand. However back to the point...I am quite sure that 5150 is very good for you, I would have no right to judge that. Also, I am not a fan of the new metal like you play. That's not to say there's anything wrong with it and I surely as a guitarist can respect the genre quite a bit without being "into" it. Like I said before, your music isn't a bad example of that genre...that's meant as a compliment, but having a negative in there might confuse you. So what I mean is your music is good, though not my thing.

However believe it or not, your genre is not the only one out there, and you're not the only guitarist out there. You like you sound however bear in mind Willie Nelson likes his sound too. TBH when you make attacking comments instead of constructive comments the target of your attacks probably comes out looking better than you. You really do learn more by listening and being wrong is indeed often a very good thing.

Just for the record...in my 20's I had some serious rules that were mostly based on covering up my short comings and feeding my ego because it was the cool thing to say. In the years to come I grew ten fold when I broke each one of those rules. I suspect you might not be able to accept that because you have your image to protect, but bear in mind that the image you perceive you put out there might not be received in the same manner.

Take it our leave it, I don't care...but that's how it is.

BTW imho you did settle for less by buying the combo, I have sold Peaveys, I have sold many 5150 1/2 stacks...I can't remember selling one combo though. That's because there were a lot more choices of combo amps that competed quite nicely with the 5150 combo. But as you know I would much rather go with a rackmount rig...does that make yours wrong and mine right?...NO, but it is right for me...I like more control and the ability to upgrade as I go along...but again that is all my opinion, based on what I like...I'm glad the 5150 is great for you...

from just plugging this thing in, I can see it is completely unusable. perhaps for a crazy lead sound, but really, this sounds like crap.
