Hehe, if they'd done that, I'd just have released the pressure on the tissues and painted their floor in a nice red pattern. Now that I think about it, I could've spend the time waiting by playing some rounds of tic-tac-toe in the yard, drop by drop...Klemperer wrote:was told by Mr. Notarzt she should wait for the next day and take 2 Aspirin...

hmmm... theres this place.. call it another dimension... the gateway is your front door.. its pretty cool.Urs wrote:Outside? What do you mea... outside? Ah... you mean the crappy movie that runs in these rectangular screens on the wall which also show that sun-thing during day time?VitaminD wrote:outside
dont fear it.. just step through the 'gateway' and see for yourself.. its pretty awesome.
and, no, you shouldnt do this (see pic below) outside.. while its entirely possible, you're missing the point of stepping beyond the 'gateway' if you do!

sorry to hear about the accident Urs, sounds nasty. At least you got the treatment you needed and the prognosis is good
If it helps one time I accidentally opened a door on a moving train, and then proceeded to hang out of the open space trying to close it again. Just as I was about to close it I realised that my foot was in the wrong place, and the door wapped back against the carriage again. So I went out after it a second time. At this point I thought - 'if a train comes the other way - I'm dead..' I got even closer this second time to getting the door closed, but still failed. We were between Richmond and Staines station on the Reading line from Waterloo, so the train must have been doing a good 50/60mph as it's about 10 miles of track with no stops (urban route so not too high speed).
If you want to find a new way of scaring the sh*t out of your friends, then I thoroughly recommend it... I thank God for the Angels that stopped me making jam on the tracks
Maybe that didn't help..
You seeing the young lady again soon?

Oh... day 2 was pretty boring. Pain went almost fully away, at least as much as not to justify any further pills... but still, typing scares me, whenever I get deeply into something I'll unconsciously try to use the left hand and OUCH. The only suitable task for my left hand is holding a cigarette. Hope to get back to mouse-oriented photoshop work tomorrow.
It's all weird. Taking a shower takes twice as long, as I have to wrap a bag or something around it, and getting any shower gel out of its container (what is this called in English?) is a major pita, because most of it goes right into the sink
Also, buying food is an interesting experience. I mean, I've tried to use a fork, but it wasn't comfortable. Whenever I do something *complicated* with the injured hand, it starts to hurt. So I walked through the market and looked for stuff that could be eaten with one hand. Thankfully Pizza belongs to these, and good old Ravioli in tins
Oh, reg. young lady (more like my age btw., hehehe), I had to cancel yesterday's appointment because I got a double pleasure tetanus shot which by late afternoon simply knocked me out. Which is a pity, because her favourite team reached the next round of World Cup last night, so I would've loved to join the party
Later,
Urs

Hmmm.. guess the lady singer you are dating..... Nina Hagen?
( I bet she would be a character!) Nena?( Better like red balloons!) The girl from Ideal?( If you have "blaue augen" you are in!) Enya? Kate Bush? Toyah Fripp? (Robert might not like that!)

You shouldn't take Ibuprofen for that pain. Take Tylenol because aspirin and Ibuprofens are blood thinners. You'll recover faster and it's easier on your stomach. Vicoden is very good for post surgery pain (I should know, I had colon cancer and had my guts ripped out of me).
I don't know what the brand names are in Europe but you should take pain relievers based on acetaminophen.
Take time to recover and feel better, soon.

But remember, alcohol and acetaminophen = liver damage.

Boys, I'm a tough guy. It still hurts beyond being able to concentrate, but I have cancelled medication
Off for a beer or two now - gotta get back what I destroyed two days ago

Side note: The doc recommended ibuprofen, because it does not thin out the blood like aspirin does... and it's more powerful at smaller doses... never heard of the other things suggested except vicoden, but in Germany these things can only be had in really exceptional cases.

acetaminophen is just another term for paracetamol (more widely used in America than Europe) and Tylenol is an American brand of paracetamol. Your doc is right ibuprofen is more powerful at smaller doses, causes less damage of stomach and liver tissues and also acts as an anti-infammatory in case you have any swelling. Vicoden is damn strong stuff and is derived from opium hence the reason it is highly addictive so stick to the ibuprofen unless your hand actually drops off
