I have this synth....excellent little addition. Not sure why it's not selling...it's possible that it's just market saturation. There's so much shit out there that it's hard to get something in the spotlight for the period of time required to effectively market it.

Around year-end is not an optimal time to launch a new product, I'd suggest, after some observation. It's the time when all the marketing hacks of the big companies drop their prices in a frantic effort to make budget and get their performance bonuses...

ToTC presets would be a good idea, you're right!

also I'm thinking about what funxi wrote "Samplers, Romplers, synths, physical modelers, he makes them all.", he meant it in positive (see his post, <grin>)
but there could be a drawback

I mean most of the small developers are specialized in one kind of product and maybe that gives a stronger image (?)
It's really market saturation. I made some promo via pm and email and really everybody told me: "I don't want to buy more plugs now (no matter how good it is), i only want to pay for hardware during the next year except for updates of my most important apps."
Moreover, almost every sequencer has now several synths included. The next boxed version of Tracktion will have Alpha 3 and Cronox 3 in the big box, Cubase 4 has four new synths, Sonar has Pentagon and Psyn 2, Project 5 Psyn 2 and Dimension, Live can be enhanced by Operator and Sampler, Logic is an all in one solution for more than two years now, Digital Performer has new synths and Pro-tools too.
Another point is: many people only use free plugs or others prefer to buy expensive plugs, which come in a box with a printed manual. They feel quite pro then and some of them may think, it's just the app., not the user.

Anyway, i wish you a big success!..... and when the people from the mags will have tried Acidome, you will get good reviews and more customers.

Whoa, that was meant to be praise, not criticism! What I probably should have said was "he has made them all at various times." Your versatility is your unique selling proposition.

Just a thought: maybe it's time for a website upgrade? E-Mail me if you want some free labor.

don't worry my friend, I got and enjoyed the praise, <grin>

thanks for the website collab offer!

Hope my email made some of the right kind of sense as well.
Happy New Year, Liqih!

BTW the poll seems to go with the simple result that most of the users don't like Acidome,

oh well, at least a few of you likes it very much, and I do too as I use it a lot in my own music,

***more votes in the poll are always welcome***

thanks

I really like Peti and Modelonia and HarpTime and Marimka... And I buy these type of plugins from you without even needing the demos beforehand :) (well... almost). Something flute'ish (ranging from irish to the Chineekong-type flutes) or harmonica'ish (the mouth/blues type) could be nice too... (unless harmonica can easily be done with Peti and I just didn't pay attention).

I'll try Acidome sometime soon, but for some reason (not sure why) it never really appealed to me...

ah, thanks for the feedback, looks like NUSofting has already a signature on those acoustic emulations, actually I suspected that <wink>,

maybe I should release Acidome as DASH Signature instead!

but it's just too ugly. I can't see myself having that up on screen. If it gets a professionally designed skin then I'll look again.
I understand that, as I have the same feeling for other plugins, but I find hard to call "hugly" this:Image
(not meant to persuade you though)

I hate to say it, but to me that interface looks very amateurish. In my mind there's absolutely no ergonomic or design sense to it. The spacing is terrible, there's no graceful alignments and the colors don't work - it's all mixed up grey-green gack. I feel very 100% safe to venture that it is NOT done by a designer. I really don't want to offend you with this, my purpose is to emphasize the importance of getting every aspect 100% to maximize sales.

thanks for the feedback Cabinfever, no offense, don't worry,

needless to say that I have no problems, ergonomic or aestetic, working with that interface, maybe that's just me.

liqih, maybe you could make a GUI contest ?
You can't always get what you waaaant...

That's a good idea. A good example of a very poor (imho) synth with an excellent interface is IL's new Poizone synth. An incredibly dull synth, but top marks for design...

As mentioned before there is alot of market saturation for soft synths. So you may want to wait around developing more ideas until the time is right for you. However you can still try for example: creating a package of Acidome with a successful sequencer program, offering discounts to people who buy another successful audio software product to motivate people to purchase yours, or advertising your synth as the economical yet worthy alternative to other synths on the market and alot more probably. If you could get in the top 20 of the KVR soft synth rankings you'd probably get alot more attention to your synth. Who rates those things anyway? Can anyone right a review on software there? Does anyone think its really a good indicator of the best soft synths or is it kind of outdated?

Let me wade in with my two cents: There are a lot of synths available and it seems that everyone has a take on what is a good virtual analog emulation/lead type synth.
But what I don't see a lot of are the good realistic simulations. The first time I heard the pianos in Eve I was blown away or the Manytone basses. It's easy to turn these into bleeps and bloops but hard to turn those bleeps into a great sounding piano.

While I love the Eve2 sound engine I have been unable to give up the original because it just sounds so good with minimal tweaking.
It seems much less of a synth than ver.2.

As thing get more and more complex I find myself more attracted to the more minimal synths and effects, and less to the Swiss Army do everything approach. The ones that do one thing well and give me a good idea of what to expect when I open it up. I'm not looking for every session to be an experiment.

You've created some fantastic soft-synths and I thank you for that, but Acidome just didn't move me.
