kylen wrote:do you suppose you might put some freq band-limiting controls on there, kind of like you use on the dynamics side-chain. I'd like to be able to output midi control for a certain freq range sometimes. Thanks for considering this. -Kyle
Thanks for your idea, Kyle. Yes indeed, we could add a basic Low/High filter to the pro version. And if you need more control over the audio content before transforming it into MIDI CC data, you can just send the track to an aux bus and add any other effect before the FreqAnalyst Pro (just like many people do with the DPMP). BTW maybe we should add a tutorial about this technique in the Tutorials section.

(Private for kylen: I can see you already have an idea about what you are going to purchase next with your credit note! :) )

Some more information and screenshots are now available in Blue Cat's FreqAnalyst Spectrum Analyzer Manual.

The documentation for the new version of the skinning language released for the occasion (1.2.5) is also available for download on our Skins page.

I think Kylen meant a notch filter instead of a lp filter. I had the same question, at least: it would be great to not only analyze the file but be able to edit them in the program, particularly if you could assign bands to cc's. Given the recent keyboards with lots of sliders and knobs, a program that would us tweak bands on the keyboard would be great.

Exactly :tu:

Jake - I was thinking more like a hipass/lopass which more or less means some type of band-pass (from my point of view, not dsp programmers view necessarily). There doesn't even have to be knobs if there isn't room - just some kind of sliders over the freq range to limit it. Slopes and poles are another question - I can never decide if I like smooth (12db/oct) or steep (36/48 db/oct) slopes - depends what I'm doing. For this I would be steep slopes...somebody pick! :D

If you want more bands than one the you would add other instances I suppose.

Kylen, it seems to me that what you would be interested in is such a frequency control on the Digital Peak Meter Pro rather than on the future FreqAnalyst Pro... Am I right you would like to be able to generate MIDI CC following the audio envelope for specific frequency ranges?

The FreqAnalyst Pro will extract some different kind of information than the audio envelope. The goal is to extract frequency information from the audio signal. But I can't tell more yet. If you whish I'll send you some more info by email so that we can discuss it in details.

Yes - that's exactly the idea. Peak meter Pro it is then!

OK - cool, I'll be waiting to see what kind of freq info you are going to give us control over!

Ok, it's been added to the whish list! Did you already try the technique I mentioned above (sending the audio to a bus and adding an EQ before the Peak Meter Pro, so that it does not affect the original track)?

I am sure your creative spirit will like it a lot :).

Yes - that's how I've done band-limited work with Peak Meter Pro in the past. Thanks for reminding me! :D
Edit: Oops - gotta upgrade to version2 for midi cc output - purchasing now! 8)
