Chrisma wrote:What do you all think about native SFZ/SF2 import in Sampletank 3? Seems like a no brainer to me.
These are very different formats but both are pretty well documented so I guess there's a fair chance. SF2 would be nice because there are tons of soundfonts around.
SFZ (a text-based format) is perfect for developing your own instruments because you don't need an editor (though there is one available) and you can still program your sounds to detail. It is also a very convenient source format, for it can be imported or converted to most softsamplers. I raise my hand for SFZ, then.

Hi Bobby, good to see you here in a good mood.

Is there anyway we can get the ST2 soundset update without the bonus material just so ST2 is as delish as ST1 out of the box.
Not likely. The extra programming is part of the "bonus material". It's really a new version of the library. Email us at eSoundz and we can talk about doing you a deal if you're interested in upgrading.

Bobby Hull wrote:I started reprogramming the ST2 soundset adding compressors and limiters (at Squid'z suggestion) just to hear the sounds (especially the drums)but it was just too daunting.
It's pretty daunting if youthink about doing it all in one go. It's easier if you add the effects to instruments as you use them in your music, and just save them as child presets so you have return to them later. For auditioning instruments, you can set up some basic compression and limiting and use the "Lock" button. This locks the effects in place so when you load another instrument, the effects stup stays the same. For example, you could load up a compressor and limiter, hit "Lock", and hear all the drum kits through that effects combination really quickly. Try it out.

Bobby Hull wrote:As I see it, IK was charging its loyal customers for something that should have been free so forgive me for not getting all choked up about this latest free update.
I'm sorry if you feel this way. It's great to get things for free, but the bottom line is that it's IK's product, and they get to decide what to charge. You get to choose if it's worth it or not TO YOU. I think if you're a regular ST2 user, you should seriously consider the 2.1 library upgrade. It's good stuff.

Bobby Hull wrote:ST2 needs to be as loud as other VSTi.
That's why you can load four limiters in series, on every channel. :hihi:

With ST2.5, you'll also be able to route all 16 channels through another four limiters. 68 limiters ought to be loud enough for anyone.

Thanks Kim for the info on the 'lock'!! That saves a lot of work.
And thanks for dealing with all my cranky complaints.
Actually, in real life I am very nice-a pillar of the community and I've never called anyone a 'nappy-headed ho'. Right now, I'm pimpin'my studio. Any suggestions on a mobo to go with the AMD 64 X2 6000+?

Not really my area of expertise. You'll probably get some good pointers if you ask here though.

Usually when I buy a music computer I specify my requirements (CPU model, hard drive size, and any other features like the number of USB and Firewire ports, number of PCI slots, etc). I let the system builders choose the most appropriate motherboard. There are just too many models for me to bother researching them all.

I love sampletank/soniksynth... the things that i would add would just be the better Import (however this isnt such a big deal since sampletank/soniksynth and all the expansions have GREAT sounds)

The one thing i think sampletank needs (that i think all vst's and large libraries need) is a preview function.
Some way to let people scroll through and hear the sounds with out having to load them up individually,
i know the load time on sampletank isnt all that long... but i just think this would put ST/SS even further ahead then the rest.

keep up the great work on the sounds SR - love the stuff.

YES! +1 on this. It would be great to have this feature. There have been so many improvements, there really isn't much that I miss in ST/SS. But this is a great suggestion.
Berfab
So many plugins, so little time...
