Which means your gonna get some nasty envelope cutoffs (clicks) if you slow down the tempo in the host! AFAIK Recycle, DR Rex and FL's slicer are the only ones that do this. I use vsampler (which also loads REX files and Exports a MIDI file) but have to make sure I get the length setup properly 1st or it's click hell for the loop.

...actually, I don't know if this would work, I haven't really tried it for I have my loops previously sliced up - I just wanted to tease a bit. But try it out - maybe it works...bduffy wrote:Holy shit, that's a good idea! the send to sequencer button is great and works quickly, having to import the midi file in cubase is a pain. no more drag and drop in cubase for midi files!tech44 wrote:If I understand you, Phatmatik does this. You have to export the midi file and import it in the sequencer though, but it take 2 seconds (you can usually save it to the desktop and drag it into the sequencer). With DR Rex you just hit the button and it sends it automatically, but it the same functionality.mw wrote:One of the great things I found about the Dr. Rex player was that the reason sequencer was at hand the same time as editing and sequencing. So I think it would be great if someone made a vsti Rex player/slicer that had a sequencer built in and that you could trigger the full sequence and it's individual parts by midi notes.
By the way Battery 3 does a great job playing Rex files in tempo w/ your host and will map the slices to individual notes/cells. The preview function, which runs at the same tempo as the host, is great as well.
Directwave will play and map slices to keys too, but there is a bug right now that the internal effects do not work on rex files...

Hmmm...I will. But I predict failure.loachm wrote:bduffy wrote:"Mirror" stretching? You mean the stretching in ReCycle? I tried using ReCycle as my defualt editor in Kontakt. This is what I got when I tried to open the files:

actually, intakt is not so bad, I really find it a pity that is has been discontinued.
FL Slicer is really ok. Very straight forward. If you got fl studio, I guess you probably won't need anything else.
from checking the demo, I would however say, that liveslice looks quite good.

I know a lot of people like Liveslice, but I find it very hard to use; just doesn't make sense to me.AKJ wrote:actually, intakt is not so bad, I really find it a pity that is has been discontinued.

You probably have to convert the sample to 24bit maximum (although you probably know that already).. Hey what about a scsi dumpbduffy wrote:Back to the ol' drawing board!
Yea it has some good points. My major gripe is the fact that each channel cannot be triggered individally from MIDI.. Everything is based on the 1st channel..AKJ wrote:...I would however say, that liveslice looks quite good.

The funny thing is that I was able to do a SCSI transfer from a hardware sampler to Recycle but the open as separate files which would be ok if you could copy and paste between files..

if someone manage to produce a recycle sampler that looks like a dr rex on steoids and have some basic but quality features (the one basically needed for using the actual loop not for morphing-devastating-FSUing the thing, there are tons of fx for doing it) and sell it for some less than the competitors, he could rock the market more likely IMO

yeah definitely...i heard TONS of people friend producers during the years asking for a straight drrexed sample player vstwize..no thrills no frills simple quality feature and let ME then devastate the sample please ;P ..i dont need rearrangin feature, complex matrix to apply to the filter, mystical power or other unneeded features that most of the time render the product buggy and harder to use for what it s needed for most people..the closer thing as already pointed out on this thread may be phatmatik, but we re not still on the target IMO ;P
if i was a developer with a decent brand behind (ie with budget for the rex2 licence) id go for it immediately before someone else jump in
