sounds like galactix is doing something daft. I'll put it on my dodgy-vsts-to-try list, but maybe you want to ask them to have a look in the meantime, as it's very unlikely I'll be able to guess what's wrong with their internal patch loading system!

Hmm, I tried PPG Wave here and the bigger problem is that the preset resets to 1 after every midi recording attempt on that track

Galactix is buggy according to Smartelectonix, the dev is currently working on an update. (See the smarties forum here for more) Good news, a truly fantastic-sounding little freebie gem- in fact, sounds a bit like:
PPG Wave is a notoriously buggy VST, crashes Cubase every now and then and behaves generally like a spoiled child. Ultracool sound, shit code.

AUTO-ADMIN: Non-MP3, WAV, OGG, SoundCloud, YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter and Facebook links in this post have been protected automatically. Once the member reaches 5 posts the links will function as normal.
Anyone using Waves version4 plugins with Tracktion ?I just get an "unable to initialize" type error message when I select Waveshell-VST...

Is that a new release of Waves? It was working fine a couple of months ago (but you need to download their latest patch.. have a search on this forum for more info)

dfx MIDI Gater...
Silly, since I posted a tip about this in the tips and tricks thread.
I make a pad with a VSTi on track A.
Route the output of track A to another track (track B).
Insert dfx MIDI gater in track B.
Record midi to open and close the gate on track B.
I works perfectly.
I save. Shut down tracktion. Reopen.
Now the midigater doesnt respond to the midi and I get the yellow (!) symbol on the track.
Fix.. replace the midigater with eh.. well the midi gater and it works again.
I had this problem before with another VST effct but I cant remeber which one. I just erased it figuring it was crap.

Absynth 2.0 (latest patch)
Any edit using Absynth 2.0 hangs Tracktion with nothing of interest posted in the logfile. Adding the Absynth dll to the ignore list fixes the issue.
This is using the latest download (1.4.0.153).

ok, thanks - I'll try them.
But Reaktor4 fx does work for me - I think there's a problem with the plugin that makes it flakey depending on the order in which the NI plugins happen to get loaded - it's not just a tracktion problem. Removing it from the 'ignore' list and re-scanning might just kick it into life.
I've not got a copy of the Grand or Halion to try, though - and Steinberg are unlikely to give me an NFR..

i'm sure this is a plugin issue, but for info,
nusofting's morphing delay somehow manages to block all audio out if the pan morph slider is in any setting other than off.
works fine in orion.

hmm - Tassman's obviously a bit flakey. I've managed to persuade it to open now, but I can't stop it crashing when it gets deleted..
