Only had a chance to do a real fast whirlwind tour through most of these this evening, but they sound really, really good. It's great to see the waveform drawing and wavetable scanning being used to full effect, with custom waveforms seeming to have been drawn for most if not all of the patches. I'm looking forward to delving into these more tomorrow. You really have to be commended for some very nice work on these.

Actually your suggestions in a thread here last year, gave me the idea to use as many different waves as I could.Vectorman wrote:It's great to see the waveform drawing and wavetable scanning being used to full effect, with custom waveforms seeming to have been drawn for most if not all of the patches.
bmrzycki also mentioned being able to use the XY pads, and modulation wheel, as something good, in the same thread.
So it was those ideas that lead me to create the presets with those features included.
I also included the premade arp settings, so any preset that doesn't have a long release time, can be switched to arp mode, to have a quick unique arp of the sound, and can further be altered using the arp mod knobs in the mod matrix. A delay is available in most presets, to be turned on for the arp.
Glad you like them.
Thanks all for your responses.
Have fun.
Michael

I just want to add my congrats and thanks!
Great use of the X-Y Pads!
My favorite so far, just because of the name: "This Plug In."
I'd gladly donate something for your work, Michael. Got a PayPal link?

Thanks a lot.
Hope you get some use out of them.
The pp link is inside the zip, it's an IE favorite link, or the net address is at the bottom of the PDF, file.
Thanks again.

Great work MCnoon!
Brilliant patches. Nice to see some of the potential power of Zebra being utilized.
Thanks for making it available.

I just went through these last night and I gotta say, the most "musical," best sounding arps I've heard lately! The focus on ARPs is a really great idea... Since basically an arp can be used for rhythmic elements or melody. I use Zebra a LOT because of it's cpu efficiency in Logic, and these arps have added a huge amount of material for me to use... I was thinking this would be great for doing an FX bank with the arp, for fills, intros, build-ups and such... Hmmm

And I'm really quite impressed with your usgage of the XYs too! It's nice to see non-standard things (filter freq, cutoff, attack, release) on quite a few of the presets. Combining osc FX and wave scanning on one XY is quite clever and makes for very usable realtime tweaking.MCnoone wrote:bmrzycki also mentioned being able to use the XY pads, and modulation wheel, as something good, in the same thread.
I'm still very new to proper synthesis; I still do most of my work treaking existing presets and deconstructing ones I like. I have a lot to learn from your presets. I really like how you use FMOs and the SB modules to give the presets a gritty distorted sound. I have to say of all the Z2 presets I've heard to date these are the most distorted/feadbackish of the lot. Urs said before it was possible to do but you went and actually gave us working examples. Thanks a bunch for that.
I have to say I literally got lost in one of your bell patches two nights ago. I can't recall the name of the exact preset at the moment though. Once I hit the first note I lost about an hour and a half to it. Brilliant! I definitely owe you a few dollars to your paypal link.
I look forward to your entries in the hakey super-awesome-tweak-o-rama contests.

Thanks everyone for your responses.
I'm already pretty far into a bank for next year.
I'm going to try to have more analog sounding basses next time, and also improve on the arpeggiator and sequences, as I didn't feel satisfied by many of those. Maybe I'll also try to make some pads with a warmer lower end. As many patches are doing a lot in the high end, but low end was missing.
If anyone has some suggestions for the next bank, please feel free to post them. It will include all the same extras, as this bank too.
Thanks,
Michael
-Thanks for those that gave donations too, as it is going for getting a new computer. Mines 6 years old. Time for a new one.

Glad to hear about the new bank! Will it be free of charge (donation)?
Your bank is a godsend for the unemployed right now, it's really a great thing you did. I will assure you, I repay you when I can sooner or later. Hopefully enough to buy something cool for your new computer

These presets are top notch (and I'm not saying this only because they're free.) The quality of these presets stand out, even when compared to the commercial presets.
