If you for example buy a midi library from groove monkey you have to pay between 30$ to 80$ for it depending on the content. What you get for this is from 600 to 3500 midi grooves.
Regarding the fact that you do not only get 1100 Midi pattern but also a surface and a tool to use them in a very creative way I don't think that catanya is over priced.
I am an ERA user and fan. I like its creative possibilities and the huge amount of features that definitely cannot be beaten by a "simple" phrase player/arpeggiator. Nevertheless I think that catanya is a different product for different purposes. The library seems to be well sorted. I found it usefull to play with. I will for shure continue using ERA and will wait and see if the features that added to it's so called successor are really convincing me.

Am I right in assuming Eloquence will import midi files?

Hi Folks,
I hope I can answer some of your questions.
ERA users will receive their crossgrade information directly from us, we have all ERA users in our records, so nobody should be forgotten.
Eloquence is a completely new development and cannot be compared to ERA.
Eloquence does not provide an arpeggiator mode. The best arpeggiator in the world is Consequence
Eloquence does not import MIDI files because that would not make sense in a step sequencer with the forward thinking performance features of Eloquence.
best
Rico

No disrepect, but the inability to load a pattern (or multiple patterns) into a step sequencer from an existing MIDI file, isn't particularly forward thinking.Sugar Bytes wrote:Eloquence does not import MIDI files because that would not make sense in a step sequencer with the forward thinking performance features of Eloquence.
I'm really looking forward to Eloquence, but if it's limited as a sequencer because it's aimed more for 'performance' then maybe it's not what I want. In the same way, I'd hope to be able to enter patterns directly from a MIDI keyboard, and drag-drop the patterns out to the sequencer.
I'll wait for a demo.

I rather fancied dropping in a midi and doing something new with it, in a sort-of way like slicers and dicers do new things to loops.

Dealbreakers for me. What I love most about ERA is the ability to load my own midi clips and play their variations live from the keyboard. I also use the arp mode a lot.
If consequence was stripped-down to a midi efect then I might consider, but at teh moment it is far too bloated to use as an arp.
Oh well.

I think not putting an arp in Eloquence is a big miss too. It's nice to have your sequences and arps all in one central place. I also was not too drawn to Consequences sound generating feature.

Whatever Eloquence may or may not do, it certainly looks interesting enough.
I look forward to trying out the demo when it comes

I didnt try consequence because u could only use its sounds.
I love the idea.
Can we do controlled and uncontrolled generative stuff ?
controlled randomization of notes and parameters?
fibonacci sequence type of sequences ?
You should , add an arpegiator into eloquence, the one in consequence so i can use it with zebra2, or reaktor, absynth all those award winning synths. not only with the sounds of consequence.
Please say yes .
