In one thread yesterday someone also recommend the synthmaster 2.0 as a good synth for "hardware-sound" :)

BTW, I decided to give users the "flexibility" to choose or draw their own drive curves. I'll implement a user interface control that displays the waveshaper (drive curve) and lets the user/sound designer edit it.

Also for drive there will be 3 options:

Off
Before filter
After filter (for analog ladder filter types that will mean drive curve at the end of the feedback loop)

I might also add 6/18 dB filter slopes, or better make slope continously adjustable (for the analog filter), how about that?

Everyone please give me feedback as I want to implement all of those filter changes until the end of January and make a new release :D

So to sum it up, here are the new filter changes:

1. 3 types of drive options for filters: No drive, Before filter, After filter.

2. Users can select from predefined drive curves of edit their curves (as in editing multisegment envelopes)

3. 6/12/18/24 dB slope (for analog types we can make it a continuous knob)

I think implementing the above 3 would make the filters in SynthMaster2 very flexible/customizable

Put them all in. But how are the emulations? Will they make it for the next release?

I'm thinking that those "emulations" can be modelled after I implement the above changes. If they cant, we can add new types of filters.

At least the changes I'm proposing will make SynthMaster's filters unique (because of the flexible drive architecture), instead of being a copy of an existing HW filter.

Nice 8)

After filter, reverb & mod matrix and preset updates, we'll see more of those topics, it's just a matter of time... Patience folks :)

BTW once I finish the above changes, we'll make another global press release on our version increase to 2.1.

After 2.1 comes the Mac OSX port.

Things to do:

1. Write GUI code for the custom drive curve editing
2. Add new parameters for drive curve to the engine
3. Update analog, digital filters -> this part will take 1 whole week.

To be on the safe side let's say the first week of February for the new release.

My only remaining question to you guys:

Shall I make the "Slope" parameter a continuous parameter for the analog filters? so you can even change the slope over time?

Really looking forward for those filter improvements. It may force me to buy this powerful thing.

i'm +1 for adding all these cool things to the filters

i think a good idea would be filter presets, so those that want a moog filter can just load a preset & play with the cutoff, drive & Rez, & the rest of us can make new filter types with all these kewl settings 8)

PROGRAM CHANGES? When's the schedule for that? I hate the mouse.

I think continuous would be cool if you could also display the slope value as you turn it too I.e. 1db 2db 3db.... so on
