Really growing on me too Noisemaker, but agree Synth1 is ahead for pure range and CPU friendliness.

But judging from reading KVR and other places, GUI really matters for a lot of people which maybe affected the vote at MusicRadar. Also surprised with the Cubase bug it would score so high, or is this only for certain versions of Cubase?

Hi,

Are there there any restrictions about who can participate in the contest?

I'd consider myself quite a beginner: ten years ago or so I made some tracks using my beloved SoundBlaster AWE32 and Yamaha DB50XG. That stuff was really crappy, but at least I got some tracks finished. Two years ago I rediscovered computer music, but since then I've never been really productive, because I'm terribly overwhelmed by all the possibilities. I've had a lot of ideas, but got nothing done.

Therefore I find the restriction of using one synth only quite inspiring. In fact, yesterday I've sat down a few hours with Reaper and NoiseMaker, making a rough version of a possible contest track with all patches created from scratch. It's not the greatest track in the world (in fact, it's totally cheesy), but I found it satisfying to see any progress at all.

So, while I don't think I can really compete against the other tracks, I'd like to join the contest. Possible?

The 'too many options hampering creativity' -thing is quite a known phenomena, I sure suffered from it. Then when too many options were finally used, the overloaded PC would baulk and that would be it..

If I'm in the contest, anyone can be... so paterpeter doesn't have to worry... it's interesting the thinh he said for the... too many option because it happenede to me too, I was used just to play acoustic guitar and finding all this instruments I was really confused... after a year of esperiment I found that my interest goes to acoustic like sound, so now I'm throwing away all that thousands of crappy vst (freeware) to concentrate just on what I like... but I'm still opened to new cool things

All comments welcome. +ve and -ve I need to learn "structure."

I lazily hunted the web for TAL Noisemaker soundbanks but found none. I think this synth would be a corker synth for different genre soundbanks, but I'm not sure how easy they would be to implement. Audio boffins? The existing bank is spartan but I understand why. These are the most common presets ever and I guess each could be modded.

Soundbank ideas: Ambient, 80s, Rave, D&B, Disco, etc.

I reckon this could become my go-to synth to quickly get an idea up. having said that, I haven't touched any of my paid synths since being involved in the OSC.

Nice track indeed and grats with finishing one after all that time.

About SoundCloud messing up I learned that the hard way last comp. It will convert all to 128kbs mp3 for the player, and downsampling from a higher rate mp3 is obviously not good at all. I'm not entirely sure SC will leave it alone even if it already is 128kbs, but I guess so. You can still change the track if you want, the deadline is what counts for final submission, not if you already uploaded.

Objectman: Can you make your track downloadable pls?
