I can only imagine. It seems to be the same with VST3.Urs wrote:Yeah. As I said, it's been a struggle from the day Vista was released.
I understand why the changes that these companies make are made. It is inevitable, since nothing really last forever, and they're trying to make things better (well, hopefully, lol) and easier to maintain and use.
But since IMO, the best ones to adapt are the "smaller" companies, I think it really IS to your advantage anyway.
I don't even bother with the "larger" ones anymore. I used to, when they were responsive, but anymore, they just have a policy for any complaints and desires, wishes.
For example (and I am not bugging you about it), I would like 64-bit VST3 for all my plugins and have expressed that to some of these "larger" companies (I currently ONLY use Zebra as VST 2.4, other than the included ones in Cubase, of course) since I paid a lot more for most of them than Zebra. Their response is a unanimous "there's no advantage" or "VST2.4 will still work for you", etc. Well, I know that, but I am not asking for their opinion, but expressing a customer desire, and all I get back is a policy answer.
May I ask what this fallout was? I am not familiar with it.Urs wrote:I do many things differently from other companies, and being perceived as "not professional" may sometimes be a side effect of that. (To back this up, during the Steven Slate fallout someone called u-he a "small company" and them a "major company")
(If you don't care to iterate it, please don't bother!!!)
The fact that your company "is small" enough to keep contact and adapt to user needs and desires, basically makes up for any perceived negatives, IMO.Urs wrote:I usually do what I perceive as consensus among users. The vast majority (or, "loudest crowd") of people voted for a shortcut to a directory with everything in place. That's what we have.
Now we need to improve the installer and the software itself to overcome the recent troubles ever since W7 became successful.
I just really think that Zebra deserves the lime light!
