Does this mean that there is already an Uhbik comp?djsubject wrote:if you recall Urs? i promised not to mention it in till you did!?Urs wrote:Compressor is a definite must... like most Uhbiks it's something that has been lurking in the drawer for a while (ask DJ Subject about it...)
now bring it out the cupboard & add it to the next Uhbik update
it really is a good comp!!

Yes, it gets mentioned every now and then by Urs himself in Uhbik threads, I recall him saying something along the lines of "It was going to be a new bundle, but dynamics isn't my strong point so it will be added to the Uhbik bundle"... like I said, it's not a word for word quote but I remember him saying something along those lines (no offense Urs if I've got it totally wrongBronto Scorpio wrote:Does this mean that there is already an Uhbik comp?djsubject wrote:if you recall Urs? i promised not to mention it in till you did!?Urs wrote:Compressor is a definite must... like most Uhbiks it's something that has been lurking in the drawer for a while (ask DJ Subject about it...)

Well, as I said, there's a compressor in the drawer. I once added it to an early beta of More Feedback Machine in order to test it. Subz definately liked it
A stripped down version of that compressor is now in MFM2 and Zebra/Zebrify ("strong" and "smooth" modes)

thanks Urs for all of the interesting infos in this thread. I can live without Uhbik-X, I understand that it takes a lot of work and that you have priorities. it would be awesome to have it at some point, but I'm not waiting for it. the Uhbik effects are already used in all of my tracks and are my most used fx...
and yes, a Uhbik compressor would be pretty exciting !!

Wait and see... that hardware controller is an 8-knob device with cursor keys to navigate through the modules. It's *not* an equivalent to the Korg MS-20 controller.
It is however quite nifty I hope.

I wasn't suggesting you pay or provide free copies for forced glowing reviews.. but simply find established arists who love your products to publically express their love for the products.Urs wrote:For me it's a rule of thumb: If Artist appears on website, artist has never used that software. It was given to him for free, he has no other interest in it.
If Hans Zimmer or anyone else famous is using your products then by goodness that should be hugely written on your homepage!!! 'J. Important is using Zebra/Ace/whatever in next motion picture soundtrack' have a picture of them with a small write up and a link to Zebra/Ace/whatever's webpage.
Besides.. It isn't entirely about trusting that artist.. part of this is simply having advertising.. any news is good news.. and this news is getting to your potential customer base. I think this is why most companies do this line of advertising (Korg, Roland, CamelAudio, Kurzweil, FXPansion, Native Instruments, Access Music etc etc)
We can do anything with Zebra that DeadCheese can do in his synth of choice.. but as soon as he promotes DCAM, VirusTI2, or a Kazoo then you know people are going to try it out and will be talking about it to their music-making pals.
You might also benefit from small, high quality, genre-specific soundpacks... then release them for free for registered owners of that specific product. That way when you advertise that Dead Cheese or whatever artist loves your synths, you can have themed starter soundpacks in their genre to back that sonically.

NO iBleh please
Dont jump off that cliff just because the others doo
How about a contest? Make a song with Zebra (demo also works
) and maybe each month one winner will win a full version of zebra or if already owning one, another plug of choice. That would make lots of people use zebra and realize how awesome it is
Though.. they may realize how awesome the demo is as well

Thanks everyone for their advice - I'm a bit puzzled though. Some sound like doomsday messages.
To make this clear, u-he is doing very, very well - despite (or because?) of our unusual business methods.
It does not matter if the name is catchy, it doesn't matter if one magazine or two don't pick it up. What matters is, sooner or later we get the right customer. We happily miss out on 5 impulse buyers who become support nightmares for each customer who becomes a loyal family member.
Any marketing strategy has to follow that principle. Avoid sales to people who had only a superficial look, attract people who know what they are getting. And believe me, we're doing very, very well in that respect.
Yet, our market is still fully open. We can easily sell a tenfold of what we have, because there are numerous people out there who would love the stuff - if they ever knew about it. We're getting them, sooner or later
