Cool setup. A Groovebox is exactly that concept I am at now with the iPad 2. Copy and Paste and virtual midi can not make up for the workflow of a PC daw nor it's VST options. Therefore I now consider my iPad an advanced Groovebox instead of a poor daw. I have owned a deal of grooveboxes and have always loved the portability concept. In the 90s we had our Grooveboxes in our backpacks. In the 00s they were replaced by notebooks and netbooks. With this upcoming MPC controller for the iPad 2 http://www.akaiprompc.com/mpc-fly , I really think the concept has come full circle to me. A groovebox with removable physical pads, a large touch screen, good amount of memory, many different Groovebox programs, standalone sound generators, mixing gear and mastering gear (can't wait for the upcoming Auria studio http://auriaapp.com/Products/auria ), not to speak of the ability to upload to net directly. Now that is damn amazing for a Groovebox if you are from the old schoolDewaine wrote:mod4 said "Im going back to my mpc and using ipad for synth its just so much easier."
+1
I'm using Maschine Mikro with my Macbook Air 11". Without a doubt the best portable music creation system I have ever used. Real hardware to play, and can go anywhere. iPad is an awesome synth/sound module, but a lame sequencer IMHO. Just too much hassle to use.
