Glad it's helix this month. I've always found its presets very inspiring but have never ventured into tweaking them before. Will probably be composing mostly in my lunch hours at work though so I'm stuck with just mouse and keyboard at the moment.
Shame there isn't easy tempo syncing in the gui (unless I'm missing something obvious), but this online delay calculator is quite useful.
Amazing low CPU usage. I've got six instances so far and CPU usage is less than 1%.

So, wait, IS, or IS NOT the Helix beta still open for free public use?
I actually owned the commercial version of Helix and had to sell it for financial reasons so this is a personal question I have as well.
Has anyone tried to email Jonas to settle this once and for all?

thank you very much for your comment ... shame on me
I didn't say that i look at this options. I test it in different variants ... same problems all the time: in some cases the GUI work, in some cases not.
And my hard problem: if i get a violation error, FL Studio wil not work so i must kill it manually. And FL Studio don't want this ....
So in this month it's very hard for me to create a track cause i must make very, very much savepoints ....

Shame about the issues with FL Studio.
It is. JonasNorberg: "To be perfectly clear, the current beta version will remain free"A.M. Gold wrote:So, wait, IS, or IS NOT the Helix beta still open for free public use?

My apologies, my memory about the beta, was WRONG. I did spend time trying to find some evidence, but vger has found it. Very generous of Jonas to keep hisA.M. Gold wrote:So, wait, IS, or IS NOT the Helix beta still open for free public use?

Hey pretty good sounding track and one that does justice to the free version of Helix.
Not sure about the extra effects usuage but you haven't broken any rules more like things have become a lot more relaxed which to be honest I am against since things have become a lot more blurry now with comp.
But that's all beside the point because even without effects I think your track holds up very well.

Song is sequenced! Now I just have to tweak the mix a little. Helix gives me some mixed feelings. Presets are great, and it made for a smooth mix with 8 tracks that I may not have to EQ much! But when it came time to employ a lead sound with simple vibrato and pitch mod, it took me FOREVER to figure out how to tap into my pitch and mod wheels. I'm so used to synths where this is the default setting! But once I got the modulation window figured out, I had fun again.

I actually tried to keep non-Helix effects to a minimum. Most of it (Baxter, Ferric, 5orcerer) are just on the Master, and used pretty gently. there's only one bootEQ, on the snare, and I only used the hi-mid band to lift the "shell" of the snare a bit. one pancake on the hat, and a couple of loudmax instances on kik and snare to tame some crazy transients, and one loudmax on the master (again very gently). All the delays and verbs are Helix!aquar wrote:gorgorgathgorgorgor wrote:Gorgorgathgorgorgor - Pussycats' Masquerade

Nice to keep it pure like that, the onboard reverb is not entirely bad and delays can be calculated. Was also thinking to use only both but have caved on the reverb.
Agree, setting pitch and mod wheel up manually is a bit unusual, but a breeze once you know how. And getting comfy with the mod matrix makes it easier to set up more creative stuff.Pulse Width Modulation wrote:But when it came time to employ a lead sound with simple vibrato and pitch mod, it took me FOREVER to figure out how to tap into my pitch and mod wheels.
