Nice synth! Very fun to tweak!

I noticed that the beta is from 2008 and is PC only. Since then they have released a mac version. I just installed it and noticed that it runs as a demo, with random pitch and noise instances.

I would still prefer to use this demo (with it's limitations) on my mac than try to wrestle up a pc to use with the beta. There didn't seem to be a problem when I did that with Z3ta+, so I'm assuming that it would also be okay for this contest? Unless the developer has a problem with it of course.

wow! I didn't know that the beta is still available... it is one of my favorite synths - I use it in nearly every track since I bought it!! I don't know of the differences to the final version - but I think it will be a lot of fun to play with it anyway...

Hi to FL Users,

FL-Studio will crash if i play a little bit with the synth

The Problem: threadingprocessing.

Take it off and all will be OK ... seems to be a nice synth

edit, although memory tells me one thing, I can only verify the opposite,
in a thread below where the Helix author posted, and did neither protest,
nor comment on, the topic of usage of the beta, while answering someones
question on another matter.

The linked download fails to work in Ableton 8 for me. Guess I won't be participating as trial mode is very different interface wise and has audio imperfections coded into it.

I'm also using Live (8.2.2.) and Helix works fine. I have winxp, if this may make a difference.

Hi, the link I posted discusses the pre commercial beta releases of Helix,
not a demo of the commercial version.

Because I recalled Jonas saying not to use the beta after commercial release,
I tried to verify that, from the authors postings, but could not.

EDIT: My memory is WRONG, vger has verified the Helix beta is free to use,
as quoted from the author.

In the link, where Jonas posted a reply to a question about presets,
a question about legal use of the beta was asked, but went unanswered,
reason unknown, so I mentioned the link, to debunk myself, so to speak.

Yes it has one of the lowest CPU hits I've seen from a VSTi which is quite amazing having several ocs's, effects, modulations, params etc which tells of very good coding.

This is good because I think I am going to end up using my old machine to record this. My new laptop is going to go away for a while and get fixed.
