I'm curious how good PPG version 3 is for sample mangling and scanning the sample. Anyone played around with it enough to comment?

And thank you, Rob Lee.

Looks like there was a problem with the automatic system of the Waldorf Online Shop at this weekend. This will be repaired and hopefully everything will work again very soon.

It's all working again, Ingo, and I feel guilty for causing a rumpus and moaning too much.
Waldorf fixed it and I got my downloads. PPG Wave is an incredible synth, so different and refreshing after all the usual stuff.
I can't stop playing it, and Absynth, FM8, Omnisphere, etc will feel neglected.
I bought your soundbank and Rob Lee's, and they are brilliant. I just hope you guys and Xenos and others will make more, because they are great.
Hopefully, in time I will learn how to do it, too.
I recommend PPG Wave and these soundbanks to anyone who has all the popular stuff and wants something with a sensational filter sound. It really adds something and sits well in a mix of other soft synths. Also nice with guitars and pianos and vocals.
I think it is not the last thing I will buy from Waldorf.
By the way, it really sounds great with PSP Audioware Old Timer, and Ingo's piano sounds are cool through their new PSP Echo.
Rob's ARPs are awesome, as are Ingo's pads and leads. Thanks for all your help, Ingo, you are a good guy!

Hi Craig,

no problem. I am a kind of unofficial Waldorf support at KVR anyway... :)
And of course as my own soundset was involved i also had a personal interest.

Nice to hear the problem is finally solved.

One problem in this case was that Haibin who is responsible for the Online shop (and for paying the sound designers...) had a small holiday. After she was back everything went quite fast and Stefan Stenzel repaired the issue with the automatic delivery which seemed to be the main reason for the problem.

Some people seem to think as Waldorf is a well known company it got something like 100 employees but the "core" is around 5-6 people where two (Wolfram Franke and Stefan Stenzel) are the developers.
Most other people related to Waldorf are free coworkers including the Beta tseters and sound designers.

The people at Waldorf were very helpful with the problem.
I will be buying from them again, definitely.

First try with some PPG Wave and Ingo Weidner soundset, Atmospheric Transients.
With a little bit of SC Novachord, EP73, Broken Wurli. Drums from Simmons transients in PPG Wave.
Also trial of PSP Echo. Everything through PSP Old Timer. Twice.

And a special "bonus", since such things are very synthy and very German . . .

Bonus!

Thank God for Kraftwerk, bless them.

Hi Craig,

some nice demos indeed. It's still strange when i hear a song from other people which use my soundsets... :)

About Novachord: Did you use the Kontakt instrument (i have both from Hollow Sun and Soniccouture BTW) or my PPg presets that use the Novachord samples (for which i got a permission from SC)?

Ingo, I used the SC for a light warbly lead sound in the middle.
I have about five of your sounds on there.
The ones you did with the Novachord are on my next tune!

I love the sound of the Novachord which is one reason why i have both Kontakt instruments. BTW i was the very firts customer of the Hollow Sun Novachord.
Anyway as the Soniccouture version got all the original synth controls it's better for doing your own sounds while the Hollow Sun version seems to have better presets IMO.

This is an audio demo i made using one of my Novachord presets for PPG Wave 3.V called "Mega Nova":

PPG Wave 3.V - Mega Nova

This preset uses the sample for both oscillators which are detuned. To this the awesome Chorus FX of PPG 3.V (one of my favorite Chorus FXs) is added.

Here is the website of Phil Cirocco who restored the Novachord which was used for the samples of Soniccouture:
http://www.discretesynthesizers.com/nova/intro.htm

I also have his CD which uses the Nobachord with an external Chorus FX. This is really awesome: http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/novachordrestoration

More info about the Novachord of steve Howell which was used for the samples of Hollow Sun: http://www.novachord.co.uk/

I have not tried to use the Novachord Kontakt instruments with the ERS Dimension D Chorus which i got recently but i'll try very soon. Should sound really great.

Here is one of the few videos about the Novachord:

Here is a nice demo song that my friend Steve Porter (from Synth Magic) made with my soundset:

Could be also found here:

It's posted at my own Soundcloud page but was done by Steve.

Maybe in the future it would be better to post demos of my soundbank a that other thread as it's a specific thread for that one. :)

I'll add a quote with your demo to that thread.

Thanks for copying it there, Ingo. This is a nice demo of your sounds, too. The soundset has a unique quality, that's for sure.
I want to hear it in with Absynth and suchlike, as I think it will sit really well.

With lots of Ingo Weidner sounds, and two Les Pauls. Just doodling, but these soundsets are music to my ears. NIce Rhodes sound, Ingo, just the right tones.
