Pishaw... if Bazzlle even had even MSEG as a resource to plug these dorky patch cables into, I'd agree.
But it isn't so much a new idea as a familiar form of synthesis (modular) with digital... everything.
Seeing as it's U-he product... I'm partial to Bazille to some degree. Urs just doesn't KNOW how to make a bad plugin these days... and we all know it.
But I also know Urs (and company) can make amazing NEW things. Great sounding things (if our processors can keep pace).
Modular is a surprisingly flexible format... but it needs an overhaul. U-he can make that happen with what they have right now... our machines would MELT... but they have the know-how to make Zebra, Diva, and Bazzlie all into one, massive DESTROYER OF WORLDS!
Or, at least, two slightly less awesome destroyers of continents.
Ableton has made good money using the same idea.
Maximum flexibility works!!

You can use the sequencer as an MSEG... and you can modulate it in ways that are not possible in Zebra.TomTwohy wrote:Pishaw... if Bazzlle even had even MSEG as a resource to plug these dorky patch cables into, I'd agree.

Except you cannot name a soft synth that has even a similar feature set... Bazille is unique in the software worldTomTwohy wrote: But it isn't so much a new idea as a familiar form of synthesis (modular) with digital... everything.

Interesting. I always found OLGA a bit "f**k YOU" synth. You know, the one you always use when you want to blow people's heads off with how powerful it sounds and how it can cut through the mix.Sendy wrote:I loved the philosophy of Olga but always found the sound too "blatty".

To my mind, yeah. The problems I encounter when mixing always begin by every damn sound "cutting through the mix". Give me more bland, transparent, sit-in-the-mix sounds!Urs wrote:Totally unrelated, isn't "cut through the mix" the total opposite of "sit in the mix"?

Piece of cake!TomTwohy wrote:I've looked at the "Zebra" patch... it does not frighten me... easy to tell whats going on there (MSEG and custom waveforms).
Reminds of the Monty Python guide to playing the flute, "blow here and wiggle your fingers up and down here".

I guess it depends on what you're mixing and how you need it to sound. If I want a distinctive sound I want the listener to remember for quite some time to come, OLGA is the synth I turn to more often than not. Can't quite explain it, but that synth just oozes character. Trent would probably love it to bits (sicUrs wrote:Totally unrelated, isn't "cut through the mix" the total opposite of "sit in the mix"?

SO... pdxindy, when I asked you make a patch to prove Bazzille is all-that-and-a-bag-of-corn chips... you whimped out and threw the task back in my face. Fine... I understand... you have driftwood to collect.
But I spent a whole HOUR making the waves (pffft)... and here it is. All ready to go.
I'm hoping you can DL this file. My browser mearly opened it (killing all the returns) and I'm sure you'll need to use some other method of getting it down.
Nonetheless... HERE is a Zebra patch that SAYS BAZZILLA... it was ALL TOO EASY (much like playing the flute).
http://www.twohy.com/kvr/Bazzzzillaaaaaaaaa.h2p
Time for you to prove Bazzille is all you say it is... and not a noodler.
One patch Bazzilla Patch that says: BAZZILLA. (or Zebra if you like)
Get to work, Hippy.

I works best in the octave below middle C.
Sorry I only spent an hour on it.
