Thanks for the offer. I did not feel comfortable doing the same because I did not want to run afoul of Cakewalk.

This is a great deal and I got in on it last time. I was psyched when I got the email about the big sale, but alas the z3ta upgrade is not on sale.

Cycling through stock patches, Rapture is very boxy and resonant/boomy.. and it isn't the filter but the waveforms/oscillators.. not all, however, but most.

Not impressed with the sound coming out of Rapture.. it has a sterile, digital sound to my ears. I like digi synths too.. but this one sounds flat. :(

I've yet to hear a Cakewalk synth that sounded really pleasing to my ears.. outside of maybe Pentagon I (but that was an rgcaudio product).

The gui is also a bit small (fonts especially) to me..

Perhaps I just need more time with it.. :(

Update: Yes, more time, and updated patches... http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/Raptur ... sion-Packs

Listening to those.. it sounds quite nice now to me (still a little boxy and flat but much better).. pretty amazing that waveforms can alter the sound so dramatically. It is night/day different to me.

Yes, because my opinion doesn't match yours means there is clearly something deficient in my setup. :ud:

Do you really mean peace when you say something so clearly meant to not make peace?

honestly i thought the same (but wouldnt have written it down). it's just that i think the sound you describe is exact the opposite of what i think rapture sounds like..
Finally!

I thought the Muz3um patches (26.4 MB)were especially nice for Rapture:

For anyone thinking about purchasing Rapture I'd recommend the Architecture Waveforms.
http://www.galbanum.com/products/archit ... eforms-ce/
"Architecture Waveforms Cakewalk Edition, is a collection of over 2,500 meticulously designed wavetables provided in standard .Wav sample format for use in Cakewalk Rapture, Cakewalk Dimension Pro and other supported synths and samplers."

And if you like Pads and can afford the extra dosh.
http://www.galbanum.com/products/piscis/

All 250 Piscis presets are based exclusively on 1GB of new custom resources designed to compliment Rapture's Expression Engine • Piscis includes 61 special "Spectrum Sample" SFZ instruments which stretch across eight octaves and consist of perfectly diffuse band-limited spectrums made up of over 2,000 voices each • Piscis includes 50 velocity cross-faded multi-waveform SFZ instruments which allow velocity dependent shifting and morphing of timbre without even using filters • Piscis includes 80 custom 65,536 point LFO waveforms which allow complex fractal-like LFO shapes that cause modulations to morph between slow shifting and fast FM-like behavior • Piscis was developed for Rapture version 1.1 or later and makes extensive use of the its new features including new filter modes, new DSP transforms, new signal routing, tempo-synched envelopes, 64bit waveforms, and more • Piscis makes extensive use of the modulation matrix, continuous controller assignments, velocity sensitivity, dynamic envelopes, SFZ definitions, and other techniques to produce incredibly expressive and dynamic presets which encourage performance, inspire creativity, and enhance usability.

I am not so sure about Raptures inbuilt effects especially its reverb but I run it through Valhalla Vintage verb and it sounds awesome.
The stepper is super cool, very advanced indeed especially if you like messing around with unusual tuning/scales.

If I didn't already own it I snap it up at the price it is right now in a heartbeat.
Easily one of the best deals on a Vst in a very long while.

There are a few good packages for Rapture and DimPro at patcharena. If you would like a decent set of mellotron sfz files for DimPro and Rapture using the taijiguy samples they are here http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=1410821

I absolutely agree with the piscis recommendation for pads. The Architecture Waveforms maybe not as much. Since Chad decided to blow out Universal 120, I would get that first. In addition to a lot of useful patches, the included LFO, EG and SG files were designed to make it easier to create your own patches. Very useful stuff.
