Not's like there are a thousand freeware synhts out there, that are not just half, but full synth, without even the need to turn off the string half.

I'm just thinking that if you are mainly looking for a synth, maybe this plug is not the place to start.

Paraphonics are supposed to sound thin prior to the BBD chorus stage. Xils even put up an A/B String demo with the VP330.

I don't think the VP330 allows you to bypass its BBD chorus but if you open it up and reroute manually, you will probably get a tone similar to XILS V+ oscillators with its ensemble section disengaged.
Ingonator wrote:The basic tone of most String Ensembles is usually not very spectacular. It's the Ensemble/Chorus FX and maybe also an additional Phaser (like the famous Small Stone which is available as software as e.g. "Big Rock") that are big part of the "Magic".

I was one of the beta testers for Xils Lab V+ which sounds great IMO but not so great when the Ensemble FX is switched off. V+ could also do nice analog synth choir sounds that could be layered with the Strings.

Also like se of the paraphonic Strings like sounds i could get from my Waldorf Pulse 2. With the corresponing unison modes the sound could be made "bigger" without external FXs. Maybe the planned FX expansion board will also include a Chorus FX (no details known yet).

One of my favorites are the Novachord Kontakt instruments from SonicCouture and hollow sun, especially in combination with a Chorus FX.

There are several analog polysynths that could do nice synth strings like e.g. the free OBXD synth. It could sound even nicer with som FXs like e.g. an Ensemble or Chorus (while some people do see this as "cheating").

Concerning Nabla i have checked it and it is quite interesting but the Strings sound is not really my favorite one which of course is a matter of taste. Have also tried to use an external Ensemble and a Phaser FX (Arts Acoustic Big Rock) with it.

V+ got several advanced features of which some were possible to adjust when you open th case of the real thing. One of the advanced features is a dry/Wet fader for the Ensemble FX of the Strings section. For the Ensemble of the Choir sounds there is a simple On/Off switch.

Indeed, I have already removed it after some demoing...
But I am curious, I often demo new stuff, just to see what it sounds like :)

You need to use your ears for that

I actually owned a Korg Delta back in the days. Liked it a lot and it's one of the instruments I should never have gotten rid off. So I'm pretty happy with this new emulation, and it being developed by my favorite VST-dev makes it even more desirable. It won't replace the Deputy for me as I like that one a lot as well.

For those that are more interested in a 'full' synthesizer (or in this case a even 'fuller' synthesizer :D); there is still another Full Bucket synth coming ;)

Yeah, but that one sounds NOTHING like a real Delta

Sorry, I use my ears for image processing (synesthesia). I wear headphones on my eyes and glasses on my ears :hihi:

Woohoo, raw paraphonic 64 bits. Loving it.
Murderous duck!

Congratulations to this release. Looking forward to give it a twirl. Enjoyed Deputy Mark II a lot.

I knew it, I already have a string machine in my folder, but since I never use it, I had forgotten its name, Night Flight...

Just looked up what paraphonic means. Now that I know, why is that a good thing? Seems more like a limitation...
