This is quite crazy, as far as I know Live is one of the most used DAWs, obviously serious vendors need to support such DAWs all the way.

Does users really need to read the fine print before buying from Waves? :help:
Same problem in Reaper 4.78 64-bit while the VST2 of Waves Element works (and also Codex did when i owned it). Also the VST3 plugins of the Waves effect plugin demos are working in Cubase Pro 8.

Seems to be a problem with the Waves VST2 effect plugins, at least in Windows.

As said, ALL the Waves vst2 have worked in my Live, before Codex, therefore this analysis doesn't sound right. Waves must have changed some coding fundaments in their recent plugins. Live 9.1.8-> no support doesn't explain the Codex problems, I've tried also with older Live vers., Codex won't open.

codex is working fine in my live 9.2b12 just fine (just pulled it up to verify).

and it's not surprising that waves won't support live versions (right now) past 9.1.8... 9.1.8 is the latest released version.
that doesn't mean that it won't work in a beta (as shown above, it does), it just means that it's a beta and things might be wrong with it.

the weird thing with the waveshell is that the 'sub-vsts' are only added when live scans the VST, which it only does when the date on it changes.
but 'installing' a new VST doesn't appear to change to vst itself - it must either enable some authorizations, or add some resources somewhere else, etc.
because live won't usually rescan it unless prompted.

if you don't want to rescan anything, renaming/moving the waveshell dll usually does the trick.

Just seemed to get the plugins working in Live 9 this way:

My normal folder for plugins is at C:\VSTPLUGINS and Waves seems to have some problems with that (except for the Elements plugin).

While leaving a copy in my own folder (see above) I copied the WaveShell-VST 9.3_x64.dll file to C:\Program Files\vstplugins. Then i created a shortcut of that file at the Windows desktop (with Send -> To dekstop at the right click menu). I moved that shortcut into my own Vstplugins folder and when starting Live 9 next time it finally found the Waves plugins.

After that it even works after removing the shortcut file from my own plugins folder.

This is how the Waves plugin list (all except Element are demos at the moment...) and the API 550b plugin look in Live 9.1.10 64-bit:

I don't know if this will help, but I had to use shell2vst to get the Codex VST out of the Waveshell, before it would work in FL Studio.

I almost jumped in and bought it. It's very tempting indeed but I passed because I really don't need any other synth! I don't think Codex will give me a sound that I don't or can't have.

Also I don't like their protection. It only permits to use one computer. So, if I want to use it in my laptop, I need to move the license from my PC to the cloud then move it again to the laptop. Not practical at all or have they changed their protection scheme?
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Never seemed to have a problem with Element and Codex in Live 9 in the past (while i sold Codex recently), only wit hteh FX plugins i justt tested. Anyway seems to be solved the way i posted above.

Looks like most of the Waves plugins prefer to have the Wavesshell DLL in C:\Program Files\Vstplugins which is not the folder i normally use.

VST3 plugins worked normally but those are automatically installed in the standard folder at C:\program Files\Common Files\VST3.

You could use any standard USB flash drive as a "dongle" for the licenses. Have not checked but maybe an external HD works too.
Other files stored on tha tdrive should still work.

I almost spent that juicy coupon on codex. but I was also looking at the c6. technically I wanted codex more, but I have 25 soft synths and 0 sidechain mb comps. decided c6 would be a better upgrade to my little studio.

I'd thought about buying it in the Marketplace before, now that it's even cheaper with the sale there was no reason to pass.
I'm curious to try it this w-e, I've liked the sound of this synth in all the demos I've heard.

Oops!! I completely forgot this option!! Thanks for reminding me. Ok, let me demo it then (I really don't want to spend money on synths anymore  )

Wonderful synth!! I tested it in Studio One and can't reach more than 25% or 30% cpu in a relax power option! So good!

Bought it just few minutes after playing with the demo

And it took you 2 hours to write such a useless sentence?

I already bought it after Ingonator mentioned the USB authorisation, which I forgot completely. So, be smart arse somewhere else please!

Hello people,

I too am thinking of getting Codex during this sale. How does it compare to Massive?
I would like to have only one wavetable type synth so which one would you keep if needed?

Does the fact that Codex is almost 10 years newer than Massive make a difference in the sound?
Is the sound more clear/powerful?

This could lead to a new discussion. Does the VST making technology improve over the years?
Can you say that a newer VST has the benefits of a better code thus better sound?
