Waldorf Attack < 3% (this is amazing considering it a pure drums synth!)
Waldorf PPG v2.2 < 3%
Why amazing? 3% sounds like a lot for a drum synth 8)
Well, compared with Tremor for example. I remember it could reach 20% easily with my laptop when I tried the demo a year ago.

Which drum synth you are comparing to?
None. I was just wondering because unlike with a synth pad one does not play 3 or 4 notes continuously for seconds. A drum synth plays more like a string of short peaks 8)
I see.

Waldorf Attack (and some other drum synths, like Ultrabeat in Logic) has many slots played by keys. In mine the le edition, it has 12 keys. Everyone of these keys has a synth behind it. It could be more than one in one hit, after all the drums not only one sound at a time.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Can you please inform us what cpu usage (average) of Spire and what is your CPU?
How do you measure these things? I have no idea. :)
Well, just load it in your host and play around with bass/leads an then pads (usually it requires more cpu). See, what is your cpu usage in your host and write it down here with what setup is your computer, just an idea about the usage, nothing is strictly measured ;)

Ok, will do that later with a couple of my synths. :)

Btw, did you set up a special kind of energy plan? For me, balanced is minimum CPU utilization 5%, max 100%, and with high performance (which i use for DAW use), min is 100%, and max is 100%.

Yes, I did changed the power options recommended plan by putting the minimum cpu to 50% and maximum to 100%. I also didn't overclocked anything (not a fan of overclocking really).

Anyway, what I noticed that most of my plugins have better cpu usage with my i5 desktop rather than the i7 laptop, although the two belong to the same family.

Just tried Aly James' Simmons emulation, I can't tell how much CPU it uses because even without anything going on at all, my DAW's CPU meter fluctuates between 0 and 4%, and it never goes higher than that even when I hit three or four drums at the same time.

This seems nice Drum synth. I haven't seen it before! Nice cpu usage also! What is your cpu?
I think you put your sample rate at 96khz with what buffer size if you can check?

Yes, sounds pretty authentic :) Quite a bargain also...

An older AMD processor :P Phenom 1100 or whatever it is called.
Buffer size is 768, it is set automatically, I can't change that value unless I use a different sampling rate.

Thanks :)

Phenom 1100 still good, my previous PC was AMD 945 X4 (I think this is the name of that processor). It was really great, little bit less than i5 750 (that time).

Depends on patches.

Diva or Bazille can take 2-5 percent of my 4790k CPU if the patch is simple

That's great, and what if the patch is not simple?

What I'm curious to know is the 'average' usage. In my i5 PC, Diva average is about 30% cpu usage. For Bazille, I don't remember now! I had the pre-release for some time. I think it was about 20%, but I need to download the demo again and test it.

From u-he synths, zebra 2 was the most efficient in cpu usage (I think it was like 10% average usage), and Hive is about 20% (with my PC).

Zebra2 indeed is very efficient, so far i havent encountered a patch wich would take more then 6% of my cpu power :)

use onepingonly for simple. were talkin .000001% cpu then...

now then, on to reality:

Charlatan

Synth1

Asynth

Waldorf A1

Tal Elektro

Z3ta+ 1.5

V-station

Albino3

these all sound amazing at low CPU usage.

say what? even holding down a 3 key chord only registers 7.7% on my core2duo 3ghz notebook.
hardly a hog compared to the real hogs.

For that sound quality it is a hog in my view. I remember it consuming way more than 7.7% on my old AMD computer. But even if it didn't, the sound and 6-voice limit are reason enough for me not to use it.
