I don't see the big issue here. He should've considered the consequences. It's called being an adult, something a lot of grown-ups are incapable of for some reason.

don't recall having any issues with him, but still, 'he was always kool with me' is not suitable criteria for if a user should be un/banned or not from a large public forum. There's some pretty simple rules to adhere by, and the simplest of all is not telling people to go f**k themselves etc - if you don't follow the simplest of etiquette rules you basically display contempt for the forum as a whole.

and I'm from these isles, so all of this 'oh you just don't get this style of humour' thing is total rubbish.
on these isles, your best mate might find it amusing, but try that kind of 'humour' on a stranger and you're just as likely to get nutted as you are to raise a bemused eyebrow. try it on someone you're already winding up and the odds increase exponentionally increased in favour of getting it in the neck. try it while a copper is watching and see if they find it funny... especially in what is supposed to be a relatively civilized area...

so ya, I have no beef with him, I'm from these isles, but you break these kind of basic rules you get what's coming to you and find another pub, err, forum better suited to your brand of humour.

I will say though, not neccessarily in his defense, that the mods are very un-even on this kind of moderation. I have witnessed far more egregious examples of breaking this rule, that the mods were aware of, and not even a temporary suspension - public warning - or even an edit was made.

so... you know... it would be great if the rules were applied universally without bias. it's really not that hard for an etiquette rule like this.

kriminal could reasonably argue that if the mods are ok with others doing it, in the presence of a mod on the thread, without so much as a public warning, well why shouldn't he ?

but then again I don't know his history and some have suggested he has one. But ya, anyway, the point is, moderate un-evenly and mixed messages are sent. as far as I'm concerned.

Others beeing permabanned for less. He was long enough member here to know that you can't f*ck with certain mods. For me since Kriminal isn't an id*ot it looks like he want it or at least take into account (for whatever reason).

It's one of permabans (before my time), warnings, and suspensions all having no effect the behavior that led to them. Eventually, enough is enough.

For people who do know the history: to act like this came out of the blue and that this ban is a result of this one incident is, to put it politely, disingenuous.

Sometimes, yes. Sometimes not. Part and parcel of them being part-time volunteers, of course.
The fact that Dave has managed to get multiple permabans overturned probably indicates he's had more favours from the moderators than most people would manage to get, though, probably on account of the exact same stuff folk are using to rationalise negating this one.

But fret not, dear hearts, he'll be back soon, officially or not. He always is.

Interesting that it looks like he's posthumously become 'a character' now, which renders any transgression moot. Ive been here just as long, so just out of interest how many people do I still have to call a c**t to get the same kind of dispensation?
