Short version:
64bit version is ignoring some of my midi control mappings.

Long version:
I've a control surface and I've setup the control mappings in tracktion so that, for instance, CC 59 on channel 2 controls master volume whereas CC 59 on channel 3 controls the volume for track 8 (this is just a simple way for me to easily reuse controllers without needing a map to figure out which one is issuing which signal - they each work with a fixed cc and I switch channels when I switch presets. anyway...)

I have Tracktion 7 32bit installed side-by-side 64bit, have had it that way for a while, and both worked fine in version 7.1.1; i've now upgraded the 64bit version to 7.1.11 and kept the 32bit at 7.1.1 as a "control" version. What I'm seeing is that while in the 32bit version (7.1.1) the mappings work fine (i.e. CC59(#2) controls master volume and CC59(#3) controls track 8 volume), the 64bit version (7.1.11) completely ignores the channel 3 mappings. CC59(#2) still controls the volume; when I go to the custom control mappings window and fiddle with the knobs it still recognizes the incoming signals correctly (as CC59(#3), for instance) and the mapping to track 8 volume is still there; however the application simply ignores it.

If you need further details, let me know (shortly - I'll be rolling back to 7.1.1 soon).

Cheers.

Thanks for the report. I think I've just fixed this very issue.
The problem was that the track numbers were out by 4. This basically means the first 4 tracks won't receive their mappings correctly.

Does this sound like what you're experiencing?
Please re-visit when the next version is out to see if it has indeed solved your problem.

Cheers,
Dave

Hoping that it would NOT install over my existing tracktion, I downloaded this beta.

:scared:

a) it hates the nektar tracktion script and not only gashes the order of pan/volume, but WILL NOT ALLOW changes (like 7.1.1 does)

b) poof crashes increase (and I never heard back for other times I sent them in, so kinda upset at this point of time)

Not a good beta tester. Too many poof crashes in tracktion overall, gonna have to give it a rest.

Good luck!
Sorry to hear you've had a bad experience with the beta, we have made a lot of under the hood changes hence the prolonged testing period. If you can provide some more detailed feedback we can hopefully look in to the issues and fix them.

a) I'm not familiar with the "Nektar script". What exactly do you mean by "gashes the order of pan/volume"? Is this a "Custom Control Surface" set of settings you've loaded in?
We have just identified a problem where the first 4 controller tracks would fail to function but this should be sorted in the next version. If it's something else, could you elaborate a little?

b) We always try and reply to every support ticket that comes in and work very hard to fix any crashes present in Tracktion itself. It's more difficult if the cause is a plugin as it's difficult to know what they're falling over on (it's not obvious otherwise all plugins would fail). Often we're awaiting replies from plugin manufacturers which can delay support responses. If you would like to post your support ticket numbers I'll take another look at them.
There's also the small possibility that our replies are being caught by your junk filters.

Sending in crash logs and the smallest number of re-produceable steps for us to experience an issue is by far the easiest and quickest way for us to be able to fix it so please continue to help us in this way.

Thanks again,
Dave

@dRow:

Would you Please consider making available color schemes from earlier versions, (as Reaper does), as they're Far More Attractive than the new ones.

Unfortunately it's not as simple as that. The whole structure and what we call "Look and Feel" (i.e. how things are drawn) has changed so that old schemes will no longer work. We do have some plans for introducing more customisability in the future though...

The problem is that, to me, all the new designs are awfully ugly!

To me the pastel-tinted color schemes of the earlier versions were far more appealing.

Have to remember to install beta versions in a different folder. Maybe the TSC chaps can set a different default folder for beta versions. Use "beta" in the folder name.
[W10-64, T5/6/7/W8/9/10/11/12/13, 32(to W8)&64 all, Spike],[W7-32, T5/6/7/W8, Gina16] everything underused.
